[there is something different about the cafeteria today!]

[a banner with the words "STUDY HALL" has been strung up across the wall near the back, the words written in sloppy, lopsided handwriting. underneath it, someone has set up a table with many stacks of notecards piled on top! they are organized by team, and further organized by character. someone has been kind enough to give you study materials for the encroaching "midterms."]

[. . . though the questions written on the notecards are a bit. . . personal, aren't they?]

[each character has a stack of notecards with little trivia questions about them written on the front! the questions range from what is X's favorite color? to in what year did X's sister die? hm. concerning!!]

[there's nothing forcing you to quiz each other with your personal trivia. . . but at the end of the table, you'll find a little prize corner with another sign that says "REWARDS FOR YOUR HARD WORK :)" the prizes include items that cannot be easily found around the school, like quality teas and coffee, small bottles of liquor, cute accessories with which to jazz up your student uniforms (buttons, pins, stickers, jewelry, etc), and even-- gasp-- make up and hair care items! for every one question that you answer correctly, you can take an item from the prize corner. attempts at nicking something without studying first will result in a mild electrical shock to those slippery fingers. put in the work to reap the rewards!!]

[the monsters books are also still being passed out by the ghosts. maybe you should. . . politely decline, though]

What: set fire to the rain

[On the morning of October 9th, a bright, almost ethereal glow flares from the rooftop]

[It lasts but a few seconds and can be seen from anywhere outside, as well as through the windows of the school. though it dissipates quickly, small bursts of light remain scattered in the sky, slowly floating down to the earth below. they are. . .]

[. . . small tongues of blue fire? they dance in the air like playful sprites, wiggling this way and that, inviting you closer with their whimsical shimmies. should you get too close to these sprites, you will hear a familiar voice echoing in your head. it is the voice of someone very close to you! someone you cared for. someone you once loved very, very much. someone you miss. someone you would do anything to see again]

[touch these tongues of blue flame, and that same person will appear before you, smiling with their hand extended. you will feel compelled to take it, almost as if you are in a trance. almost as if you cannot resist]

[the apparitions of your loved ones will attempt to guide you into the forest. characters who touch the flames will be reduced to a dreamlike state and compelled to follow them. this trance can be broken by another character with either a) a solid punch/stab/any kind of inflicted pain or b) a kiss. this knowledge is not known ICly, so you better get to experimenting!! if the trance is broken, the apparition will vanish in a whirlwind of blue fire with an irritated shriek, leaving nothing behind but a sense of loss and forlorn longing in the character who was affected]

[should a character's trance not be broken before they reach the woods. . . well. the apparition of their loved one will smile wickedly as it sprouts blue fox ears and three fluffy, blue tails at its back. its eyes will turn white, its teeth sharp, as its entire body shifts and morphs into a four-legged kitsune with blue fur and white-socked feet. the trance will be broken right as it attacks, as it attempts to sink teeth into its victim's neck and tear them limb from limb. whoops! looks like you got suckered into a miniboss fight!]

[the kitsune are pretty quick on their feet! they are difficult to hit, and their bites hurt, leaving an icy-hot sensation crawling across the skin at the site of the wound. they cannot be killed, but they can be injured with typical weapons (their blood oozes dark black), and they tend to balk when faced with more than one opponent. if you have a friend with you to fend them off, they are more likely to flee than not, curling up into balls of fur and popping out of existence with a bright blue spark of heat. the buddy system will be invaluable here!]

What: the end of the fundraiser
Warnings: nothing you don't bring yourself!

[boy, has it been a busy week and some change! the fundraising activities seems to have excited more than just the mortal student body. if you've been paying attention to the table adorned with spider lilies throughout the event, you would have noticed that some of the school haunts have been dropping pieces of ghostly yen into the jars scattered on top of it. each jar is now overflowing with glowing golden coins. they're intangible, unfortunately-- no one is going to strike it rich while stuck in this school-- but! they're pretty to look at!]

[and eventually, on October 5, the voice that started the whole affair speaks to you again]

Ah, quite wonderful! This has been such a rousing success. Thank you, my dear students, for working so hard to enrich your educational lives within these hallowed walls!

And a special congratulations to the members of the Outdoors Club, the Occult Investigations Club and the Food Tasting Club. Your efforts specifically have born fruit.

[ early in the morning one of those chaulk cafe boards pops up right outside one of the spare classrooms near the Kitchen reading "COME TO THE CAT BOARD GAME MAID MANGA INTERNET CAFE" in increasingly small and squished lettering because there's really not a whole lot of room on these cafe boards.

"but what is the currency?" tasks from the prompt list, mostly! if Girl charges anything else that's her business Gehou is just here to be cute and serve people as is his airplane-given right.

the nekomata and such can be interacted with as much or as little as you want. if you want a certain game or BL manga to be there go ahead and assume it's there. you don't have to purchase anything to use them.

naturally everything disappears once the cafe closes which will be sometime in the afternoon of Sept 30th (ic) <3 ]

The desks have been shoved to the side of the room to clear space for mingling and dancing, and the teacher's desk has been turned into a snack buffet. It looks like there's even party favors...!

[ As you're walking down the hall, you might be drawn into one of the empty classrooms by a sign outside that reads "FREE* CONTRABAND →"

Inside, someone has pushed some desks together to form a table! On one side of it there's a wide variety of alcohol, on the other there's all sorts of non-alcoholic beverages, up to and including—gasp!—tools to make decent tea and coffee! For the alcohol, tea, and coffee, however, you'll find that if you try to help yourself to a drink without actually playing, it will just poof out of your hands. If you want your luxury items, you have to pay the game tax! ]

Have you ever played Never Have I Ever? For those unfamiliar, one player states something they've never done in their life, and anyone who does have that experience must take a drink. Then the game moves on to the next person! Quite simple, no?

[ You can come play Never Have I Ever under the top-level below, or you can use the setup to run a different game! Or just make top-levels doing whatever. Be free! ]

[Friday morning begins with the chime of the bell, and the gentle pattering of rain against the school rooftops. You rise from your slumber and step out of your dormitory to find the school walls absolutely decked out in advertisement posters! They say things like, Join the Occult Club Today! or Ever wanted to be someone else for a change? The Drama Club is the place for you! or Come get the shit beaten out of you at the Fight Club! There are multiples of each poster plastered on top of each other, and they cover all sorts of school clubs, including many not listed above. Huh!]

[Alongside the posters are large arrows guiding you towards the gymnasium. It appears to be open today, which. . . bodes poorly, if past events are any indication. But at least this time, nothing is forcing you to go inside. Maybe that is a boon. . .?]

[Inside the gymnasium are seven different booths, each one adorned with a sign one of each homeroom are listed. The booths are currently unadorned, but there appear to be boxes of. . . supplies? Or something?? Located behind each one]

[There is also a long, single table adorned with a black cloth and a vase full of red spider lilies set up near the gymnasium stage. It has a bunch of empty jars laid out on top of it. For coins! Obviously!]

[Once most of the student body has gathered, an unfamiliar voice echoes across the PA]

Welcome, students. I know it is in poor taste for me to introduce myself so late into the school year, particularly when you have already met several members of my staff. But ah! Here we are!

As your loving and adoring principal, I wish for nothing but to provide enrichment in your daily student lives. As such, the faculty and I have decided to sponsor several school clubs for your continued education. Ah, but the budget is limited, and we only have so many resources to spare!

And that, my students, is where you come in.
