[there is something different about the cafeteria today!]

[a banner with the words "STUDY HALL" has been strung up across the wall near the back, the words written in sloppy, lopsided handwriting. underneath it, someone has set up a table with many stacks of notecards piled on top! they are organized by team, and further organized by character. someone has been kind enough to give you study materials for the encroaching "midterms."]

[. . . though the questions written on the notecards are a bit. . . personal, aren't they?]

[each character has a stack of notecards with little trivia questions about them written on the front! the questions range from what is X's favorite color? to in what year did X's sister die? hm. concerning!!]

[there's nothing forcing you to quiz each other with your personal trivia. . . but at the end of the table, you'll find a little prize corner with another sign that says "REWARDS FOR YOUR HARD WORK :)" the prizes include items that cannot be easily found around the school, like quality teas and coffee, small bottles of liquor, cute accessories with which to jazz up your student uniforms (buttons, pins, stickers, jewelry, etc), and even-- gasp-- make up and hair care items! for every one question that you answer correctly, you can take an item from the prize corner. attempts at nicking something without studying first will result in a mild electrical shock to those slippery fingers. put in the work to reap the rewards!!]

[the monsters books are also still being passed out by the ghosts. maybe you should. . . politely decline, though]

[On August 10th, everyone wakes up to find a series of red yarn strung across the entire school. They dangle from the hallway ceilings, from the classroom door frames, even across some of the trees and bleachers outside. The ones that hang within reach feel warm to the touch! They can be pulled down and removed with little consequence.]

[However, it is not the decorative threads you should be worried about. Throughout the week, any two characters who come in close proximity with each other (they do not have to touch!) may suddenly find themselves tied together with the exact same red thread. If you're lucky, it will only link you via your wrists. If you're unlucky, it might bind you via your ankles, or even wrap you both up back-to-back like a pair of captives. Hm! Concerning!!]

[Any time two characters are tied together, a playful voice echoes in their minds: Hehe. Share a secret. . .?]

[To be released, both characters must share a secret with each other! Something that the other one doesn't know! It should be something significant; the playful threads will not let you go unless it is. But the level of significance may vary from something light to something that is not, so ultimately it is player's choice as to what secrets count and which do not!]

[. . . anyway, for anyone who wants to avoid getting caught, the nurse's office and dorm rooms are completely clear! The threads are also fickle; it is possible for two characters to hang out without being tied up together, if you don't want to play with this effect. Otherwise, go forth and mingle with some optional forced bonding!!]

[The school is empty. The school is quiet. The only sound that cuts through the silence is the soft ticking of the hallway clocks that mark the passing of each second.]

[At least. . . until a stiff breeze whips through the classrooms, scattering dirty papers and jerking the curtains aside. The clock strikes 6:00 a.m.]
