cw: worms in flesh...?
but more importantly, he's ignoring that in favor of rolling himself over to cover his face and just BREATHE because AMAZINGLY? NOT DEAD???? but also half of his face is... crawling. or the skin's see-through and that side of his face seems to be made up of worms that are crawling. the other half of his face seems normal enough, except it's holding a smile like his life depends on it.
at least the wriggling seems to die down as he works to calm himself down? gosh.]
no subject
He will go and crouch down on the side where the worms are visible, looking up and away himself, but using his body to block the sight of him from everyone else's view. ]
Mr. Smith... are you alright?
no subject
shakily exhales...]
I'm--almost lost control there. [tch. this curse, it's still in effect.] It's... it's not usually that much an issue anymore--except the circumstances...
It's complicated, but I'll be okay. I just need to calm down.
no subject
[ He won't really question that much regardless. This seems like very unfortunate circumstances indeed, and he couldn't blame anyone for not wanting to talk about them. ]
When you need help standing up, let me know.
no subject
[he does seem to be relaxing more. weirdly, talking... helps? well, his personal psychiatrist did say that about wearing such heavy masks...]
Basically... I'm someone who's taken in potions to obtain powers... the drawbacks are that there's a risk for losing control. And when a Beyonder's lost control, it usually results in them becoming a monster.
[but the worms seems to be settling, skin going more and more opaque again.]
no subject
He's quiet for a second, thinking on this. ]
I understand. I...
[ He hesitates for a second, not sure how much he can say, or how much he risks saying if he tries to give a shortened version. ]
I'm aware of people not entirely dissimilar from you, though they've had their powers since they came into being. It has been my job for the past couple of years to play minder to them.
no subject
I hope I won't be too much trouble, then.
no subject
It would be easier on me if you weren't.
no subject
[it's the truth but also he manages a lighter, almost teasing tone.
feeling at his face to make sure that it's a face again...]

Re: cw: worms in flesh...?
cuts get bandages what do worms get
what calms down worms
—throws her jacket over his head GOOD NIGHT WORMS]
Re: cw: worms in flesh...?
fortunately, this succeeds in knocking Klein out of the PTSDs and into the ??????]
I know it's unpleasant to look at but at least consider-- [oh wait, that's coming out of his mouth. BREATHE IN BREATHE OUT.] Thank you?

[he sounds calm but he is not that calm, hands and arms are definitely shaky.]
--I won't need to keep it. Just a moment, please.
no subject
[forcing her voice down to a normal, conversational tone. it's a little like trying to sound calm around a distressed animal, but at least she's not yelping anymore]
Sorry. Of course, take your time.
no subject
he's quiet for a moment, but then there's a long, shuddering exhale and he shakily reaches to pull the jacket off.]
My apologies... I'm usually better about it...
[face is a face again, just looking very tired and eye maybe twitching in that kind of fatigued way.]
no subject
It's okay. I just thought they looked distressed? Which... is kind of everyone right now.
no subject
[actually kind of surprised someone would see that and think "those worms are distressed"]
I appreciate the quick-thinking.

Whoa--! What the hell happened to you?!
no subject
[kind of curling in a bit, panicked tones driving up the reaction for a second before he can recover his breathing.]
It's--not... not to do with what's happened. Just a moment.
[cogitation, cogitation. calm down. what would Miss Justice do if she found you in this state? yes, calm down. placation.--he doesn't have those capabilities, but he can recall them, mentally mimic them to calm down.]
no subject
[reaching for his shoulder, and-- well. no, he's just grabbing at this guy's shoulder, holding it tightly while he obliges that request. giving him a moment]
[take your time, sir]
no subject
--it's quite dangerous... to approach a Beyonder in this condition, for the record.
[steadier than before. and actually, speaking helps with the getting self to focus.]
no subject
Dude, I have no idea what that is.
[LIGHTLY AMUSED. squeezing this guy's shoulder, noting how the tension eases with the contact]
And after what I've just been through, I don't think I care.
no subject
Haa... ha. Yes, that was quite a lot.
[SO MANY PERSONAL TRIGGERS ALL AT ONCE.
but he's scrubbing his hand at his face like he's making sure his face is back on--it is. no more squirmy things, anyway.]
no subject
. . . pulled yourself together again?
no subject
[not even fighting the curse on that one. quite literally, even. sighs heavily and shakily.]
I was honestly expecting to die.
