[physical education 101]

Who: transfer students
When: July 1̷̝̤̳̙̫̭̻̝͓̄̇̾̀̕͝9̸̙̱̹͍̮̈́́̀̅͛̐̔̋ 20
Where: the. . . gymnasium?
What: an ice breaker
Warnings: moderate physical injury (not debilitating), psychological horror (absolutely debilitating)

[The school is empty. The school is quiet. The only sound that cuts through the silence is the soft ticking of the hallway clocks that mark the passing of each second.]

[. . .]

[At least. . . until a stiff breeze whips through the classrooms, scattering dirty papers and jerking the curtains aside. The clock strikes 6:00 a.m.]

[The school bell chimes.]

[Yuma's eyes, too, flit down—to the tail, though he makes no comment on it in favor of engaging Zuo Le in present conversation.]

Yes, our key was underneath the podium. Were you unable to locate yours?

[ It's what he's starting to get used to. People noticing it (weird to bother), but not saying much about it. ]

We... weren't given the chance. At the end we all split up to try and find it at the same time, and before we were given the opportunity to look for long...

[ He'll gestures to himself, and all the small cuts that are littered across him. ]

[He scans the cuts. Could they have all been inflicted by the wires?]

Yet here you are. What exactly happened . . . ?

I'm not entirely certain I could explain it.

[ He looks down at the cuts on this man's arms. ]

You were in a room with string dangling from the ceiling as well?

[Was it that surreal . . . ?]

Yes. Like us, you must have denied the voice's request and incurred its wrath.

We did, and were told we had to find the key.

[ Gaze snapping back to that sticker now. ]

Only in our case, we were not able to do so in time.

One of us found the key, only for both of us to arrive in the same location. How strange. What exactly was the purpose of that classroom . . . ?

[ He's quiet for a second, not actually able to answer that question, but he takes a moment to study the other man's tracksuit, which looks to be in notably better condition than his own clothing. ]

After failing to find the key in time, we were encased in the threads hanging from the ceilings that cut into us. That's the last thing I remember before waking up here.

[ So as far as he can tell, there might have indeed been some differences in how this panned out at the end. ]

[He certainly looks like the wires got to him. If he lost consciousness, what happened between the moment of the attack and waking up here . . . ?]

And how do you feel now? Aside from your wounds, does anything else stand out to you?

[ He's quiet for a second, brow furrowed. ]

Not anything in particular.

[ Considering he'd been crawling with spiders shortly before things really went sideways, the small scurrying spiders he's seen out of the corners of his eyes haven't struck him as too odd, even if it's made him tense up.

He hasn't seen the worst of the haunting images that will plague most of them for the next few weeks.

Yet.

[That's good, then . . . if puzzling.]

The strings tried to reach for us as we were leaving. They likely meant to encase us as well.

[He wonders why. There's already so much that doesn't add up.]

What could the voice have been after . . . ?

[ That wayward comment clearly gets Zuo Le's attention, his focus visibly sharpening onto the man in front of him.

While he'd heard a sort of static white noise as he was surrounded by the strings, he hadn't heard a voice at all. Just the one that had initially demanded their names.
]

What voice are you talking about?
isdf: (11)

[personal profile] isdf 2025-07-26 12:10 pm (UTC)(link)
The voice that had demanded our names shouted after us in a panic. Whatever it has to gain from learning our identities must be truly significant for it to have reacted so strongly.

I heard nothing like that...

[ His brow furrows. Is it because they hadn't found the key in time, so they hadn't escaped on their own?

Did it... put some kind of mark on them because they didn't escape in time? He looks pretty visibly concerned right now.
]

Are you concerned about what might have happened while you were unconscious?

[This has been his question all along. Yuma smiles placidly in spite of the implications, if mostly to emphasize his next point.]

I have been wondering that as well. Please stay vigilant, and let us know if anything happens. As you can see, you are not alone.
candlestick: (in your eyes)

[personal profile] candlestick 2025-07-30 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
[ It's an unnecessary emphasis as far as Zuo Le is concerned. His jaw tightens for a moment, brow furrowing in response to that placid smile. It's not as if this man himself is the cause of all of this (as far as he knows, though really any one of them could be lying to him about their identity), but he sure did a good job sounding setting-appropriate ominous just now. ]

Yes, I... understand.

[ Whether he'll let everyone know or not is another matter. What he should do right now is try and see who he can trust. Certainly if something happens he should tell the people that went through the exact same trial as him, the people also in green, but...

It's unpleasant to think about. He'd rather it be a case where nothing else happens.
