[The school is empty. The school is quiet. The only sound that cuts through the silence is the soft ticking of the hallway clocks that mark the passing of each second.]

[At least. . . until a stiff breeze whips through the classrooms, scattering dirty papers and jerking the curtains aside. The clock strikes 6:00 a.m.]

[The school bell chimes.]

[ ah. it's him again. akechi can only nod, eyes giving him a once over too, checking his injuries. ]

I'm fine. [ he says. simple. short. easy.

totally normal thing to say before going back to staring at space. ]

[ There's no need to worry or consider those at all. Zuo Le certainly isn't.

He is, however, worrying about the way Akechi continues to stare so intently into the space in front of him, looking there himself, even leaning to the side to see if an angle changes anything. ]

Are you sure...?

Positive. [ he insists. though... he is still staring...

but zuo le was with him, too!! he suddenly perks up, glancing at him. ]

Have you seen anything... strange? Anything else, I mean. [ he gestures impatiently. ]

[candlestick]

[ He frowns thoughtfully, gaze moving to the side as he tries to recall anything more out of the usual than anything else already happening here. ]

Not that I can recall.

[ Though that's just a misread on his part as the swarm of spiders being normal for this place, and if they're not crawling on them they're less alarming. ]

[ help. sometimes there's just spider swarms and that's part of the scenery.

akechi nods, though he sighs, disappointed. ]

I see. I suppose it's not connected to our other "curse," then.

[candlestick]

[ The curse that Mr. Smith had described already, and Zuo Le himself had experienced to some small degree. He's not sure he wants to speak on that at length, especially when they don't know if the other people around them are suffering the same affliction, but...

He will ask this instead. ]

What is it that you're seeing?

[ Because it's obvious that he must be seeing something unusual right now. ]

Dolls. [ he puts a hand to his chin. ] Everywhere.

[ Zuo Le doesn't even bother to try to be subtle as he takes an alarmed look around them. He doesn't see the dolls though... ]

Like the ones in the classroom?

Yes. [ akechi says, relieved that someone else here pointed that out. ]

Though no signs of... anything else.

[candlestick]

[ That "anything else" has Zuo Le's gaze moving up now towards the high ceilings of the gym, just to make sure no strings are hanging down above them. ]

None that I can see at least.

[ akechi follows his gaze curiously. ]

Not… right now? [ he tries. ]

At this exact moment, or since waking up in this gym at all.

[ It's not entirely true. The spiders... but he is taking that as normal for this place. What creepy, abandoned building doesn't have little crawly things running around in it? ]

The gym at all. [ he says, taking notice of his wording.

he takes it as a foregone conclusion. ]

You have seen something.

[candlestick]

No...

[ He frowns. ]

Not anything that seems any more out of place than anything else here.

[ Glancing to the open space that Akechi had been staring at before. ]

Nothing like the dolls at any rate.

Ah. [ a matching frown. ]

That's good, then. [ though he sounds a bit bummed to be the only one. ]

It may just be lingering from... whatever we saw before.

[candlestick]

It would make sense.

[ As much as anything else makes sense here, which admittedly isn't much right now. They also have no idea how long something like that would linger, which is concerning in a different way. ]

[ he nods. ]

Well. I'll leave you to continue exploring as well, then.

[ he avoids looking towards the doll. ]

I'm not sure that's exactly what I'm doing.

[ Mostly he was checking on people, though in Akechi's case he's not really sure there's much he can do to help. ]

But please come find me if this gets worse.

[ Again, not like he can do anything about it, but...

Either way he'll give Akechi a small nod before picking his way through people to see if anyone else looks like they need some assistance he can physically provide. ]
