Where: the. . . gymnasium?
What: an ice breaker

[At least. . . until a stiff breeze whips through the classrooms, scattering dirty papers and jerking the curtains aside. The clock strikes 6:00 a.m.]
[The school bell chimes.]

I didn't actually pick this out, and other than the color we're more or less dressed the same?
no subject
Not that. I mean like— [she gestures to the tail.] The tail is pretty crazy. Ears too.
no subject
Crazy?
no subject
[Sorry but. She is going to reach out and try to touch it once it's curled around his leg.]
no subject
They are real though.
[ This is an awkward thing to have to suddenly explain. ]
no subject
But at least by this point she's not stubborn enough to argue anymore. You'd think after the deeply-haunted classroom and talking to mages and "half-alien" dudes she'd no longer jump to conclusions. So she just kind of straightens up and puts her face in her hands for a second.]
Man, my bad. No one has tails where I come from, so...
[It was just the logical conclusion!!]
no subject
It's going to feel weird, having never been that much of an odd man out before, though at the very least Phidia aren't the most common in Yan, so in some ways maybe...?
No, this is still very different. He looks almost as embarrassed as the girl in front of him. ]
I'm starting to realize that is true for most people here.
no subject
H-hey, don't let it get to you, though! It's real cool! And it kinda seems like everyone out here's got all kinds of different stuff going on too, so it's totally not a big deal!
[Is that even reassuring at all??? She's trying, at least.]
no subject
It's more like... he's kind of dumbfounded by this entire situation right now. ]
I'm sure you're right about that.
[ Though he frowns as he thinks on that for a moment. ]
What different stuff are you talking about though?
no subject
[A pause as she glances around at the others scattered throughout the gym.]
Seems like everyone's from wildly different worldlines... Places with wizards and magic, mages running the government, there's this alien dude who can fly that's running around here somewhere...
no subject
[ His gaze moves up, as though he's expecting to see someone actively flying right now.
This is all... a lot to take in, probably as much as someone not used to seeing tails or pointed ears suddenly getting a good look at him. ]
no subject
[She truly does not now how much of anything she hears around here will just be people pulling her leg, but... well, some of it's hard to deny. Dudes who can fly, dudes with tails...]
Pretty crazy, right? Like, all of this...
no subject
That is something he will have to slowly pick apart when he has a quieter moment to himself. ]
That's one of many words for it, yes...
[ None of the other words he has for this situation are any more positive though. ]
no subject
[She wants to laugh, but it's hard to really summon the effort. Yeah, it's... gonna take some adjusting for them all. Suzuha knows all about differing worldlines, but this is a step further than she could have ever expected might come with the territory.
Well. They'll have plenty of time to recon with it once they catch their breath. It'd been one hell of a welcome party they'd all just gone through, after all. She eyes him again, this time with a little concern rather than surprise.]
How you holding up, though?
no subject
[ He wanted to say "I'm fine", but that curse really is something else. He is relatively steady on his feet though, even if he can feel the stinging sensation where he skin has been torn up by the wires. ]
It's far from the first injury I've received.
[ Though it is probably visually the worst looking one, and he has admittedly never been injured that severely in his short existence so far. ]
no subject
Guess we oughta find a way out of this quick, or it probably won't be the last.
[A sigh, then she's gonna gently tug at his arm and motion to the bleachers.]
But probably better if we take the chance to catch our breath first, yeah?
[Look, she gets it, but "managing" is not the same as "fine," that's for sure.]
no subject
It gets kind of hard to really put up too much of a fight when his own inability to reliably lie made him spit out something like "I'm managing". Ugh. ]
Just for a few seconds. There are people worse off than me here.
no subject
Just for a bit. First rule of triage: check on yourself first.
[And she'll lead him over there where they can take a seat.]
no subject
I can stay standing. I just need to make sure the cuts are too deep.
[ They surely feel and look worse than they are... right? ]
no subject
Not gonna hurt you to take two seconds to sit while you do, but alright, fine.
[She's not going to push it more than that, though. She's had her own stubborn moments before, so she can't exactly blame the guy.]
Those things were pretty sharp. Hopefully it didn't get you too bad.
no subject
The cuts don't seem to be all that deep. There were enough of them that they look bad right now, but the long term damage should be minimal.
[ He can still use his arms easily at least, even if they sting constantly at the moment. ]
no subject
She glances at her own arm, wrapped up in blood-soaked strips torn from her track jacket sleeves.]
These definitely could have been a lot worse, that's for sure. Shouldn't be too bad to get the bleeding to stop at least.
no subject
[ It's a little hard to tell when his arms look a mess, but he'll hold them up to show them off in what is meant to be a reassuring gesture, but given the mess of blood and torn cloth there is, it probably doesn't look that reassuring at all. ]
