[The school is empty. The school is quiet. The only sound that cuts through the silence is the soft ticking of the hallway clocks that mark the passing of each second.]

[At least. . . until a stiff breeze whips through the classrooms, scattering dirty papers and jerking the curtains aside. The clock strikes 6:00 a.m.]

We hardly knew it was a ghost as the time. Only a disembodied voice asking so-sweetly for a name.

So we gave it fake ones in turn. To see what might happen.

Either way, Tifa doesn't like the confirmation that the voice was in fact a ghost, and her face pales for a moment before she shoves it away. They're not being haunted right now, at least, and she needs to try and get over it so she isn't a liability to the other people here. ]

Yeah, and then it got less and less sweet, huh? [ She shakes her head. ] That's... interesting, though. It means it knew, somehow, that the names you gave weren't the right ones.

Precisely.

[A strained smile at her thinking lining up with his own, though it's there and gone in a flash.]

Which also implies that it attempted to use them in some way, and upon seeing that this did not work, it realized that the names we gave were false.

[So, their names really are of value. It's good no one was foolish enough to give them away.]

[ That does seem to be the correct thread of logic, although the idea that the ghost tried to use their names somehow makes her shudder. ]

The question is what it can do with them, but I'm pretty sure we can assume it's not for anything good.

[ It seems like Usagi's instincts had been correct about all that, even if it's a concept that had been brand new to Tifa personally. ]

Still, we all made it out in one piece, and there's a whole school to explore. Maybe we can find a way out of here.

[ She blinks at that, mainly because she wasn't expecting it, but then quickly nods. ]
