[The school is empty. The school is quiet. The only sound that cuts through the silence is the soft ticking of the hallway clocks that mark the passing of each second.]

[At least. . . until a stiff breeze whips through the classrooms, scattering dirty papers and jerking the curtains aside. The clock strikes 6:00 a.m.]

[The school bell chimes.]

[ He really hates being right sometimes. Though even then...given their injuries he has his doubts that that was any kind of dream he's familiar with.

Anyway, he's nearby pushing himself up onto his knees, checking the bleeding from his wounds. His makeshift tourniquet seems secure, at least. ]

...Hey. You okay?

[ You know. In the most basic sense possible, because yeah, what the hell was that. ]

[She's doing a quick scan of her own wounds. Torn up, but most of it's superficial outside of that wrapped up arm of hers. Small blessings.]

Yeah. Yeah, I'll manage.

[She lets out a shaky breath.]

For sure thought we were dead.

[ He exhales sharply through his nose. Usually he keeps such vulnerable sentiments close to his chest, but — ]

As did I. If this were a dreamscape, that would have been enough to wake us fully.

[ So...there's that theory out the window. ]

Sooo, crossing out theory number one, then.

[Like, they couldn't have actually died, or they wouldn't still be here talking, right? So maybe it's still technically possible, but Suzuha's even less willing to entertain the testing of it at this point.]

Barring that...well. There may be other memoria-related phenomena across the universe I'm unfamiliar with, but these seems far more like the plot of a horror movie so far than anything else.

[ Which he is pretty genre savvy about, but he didn't expect that his hobby could actually come in handy in real life like this. ]

[This isn't the genre she's savvy about, but she can at least recognize a scary story when she sees one.]

It really is rocking the spooky bedtime story vibes, huh. Guess there's a time and place where anything can be possible, even something as crazy as this.

[And she might be meaning 'time' a bit literally. Surely she's somehow ended up on some really messed up worldline.]

[ And likewise, the cosmos holds vast and uncountable possibilities — and this must be another of one of them. Though how he got mixed up in it remains to be seen...capturing a high-ranking IPC executive director like himself is not something that won't have repercussions. ]

Haha, I must admit, for all the games I've played in my life, I've never quite been in one like that. Rather spooky, wasn't it?

[ ...He can still feel their legs crawling on him. ]

[She sighs, picking out a loose bit of string that'd clung to her jacket. Feels wrong to even touch it, but it's just normal, ordinary string now.]

I don't exactly spook easily, but even I gotta admit that it got me pretty scared there by the end.

[But, y'know, nearly dying will do that to a person.]

[ He's not quite ready to admit it so readily, but...it's the same for him. He isn't easily unsettled, and yet there's a slight tremble to his fingers that he can't quite shake. ]

There's no Aeon that's quite aligned neatly with elements of horror...but putting a group of strangers through a type of simulation like that leaves me with some food for thought. Let's workshop our theories and see what we can come up with next, shall we? I'll gladly share what I find out if you will.
