[physical education 101]
Who: transfer students
When: July 1̷̝̤̳̙̫̭̻̝͓̄̇̾̀̕͝9̸̙̱̹͍̮̈́́̀̅͛̐̔̋ 20
Where: the. . . gymnasium?
What: an ice breaker
Warnings: moderate physical injury (not debilitating), psychological horror (absolutely debilitating)
[The school is empty. The school is quiet. The only sound that cuts through the silence is the soft ticking of the hallway clocks that mark the passing of each second.]
[. . .]
[At least. . . until a stiff breeze whips through the classrooms, scattering dirty papers and jerking the curtains aside. The clock strikes 6:00 a.m.]
[The school bell chimes.]

Yeah. Would've been a weird thing to make up.
[ No he won't be obnoxious though. He'll sit down on the bleachers beside her. ]
Nice to have it back, at least.
no subject
You do seem less out of sorts.
But I mean, I get it. If I could fly and then suddenly couldn't, I'd be freaking out too.
[It is nice to see him looking happier, though.]
no subject
It's nice that they both look like they're doing better, actually. He almost goes in for a shoulder bump before remembering maybe neither of them wants that. ]
It was kind of like... losing a limb? I don't know if that's too dramatic. Just, I got really used to it is all, I guess.
no subject
Yeah. I think I get it.
[For her, it's access to SEKAI and the Virtual Singers that live there... she's already coming to realize how heavily she's come to rely on having that there.]
So it just came back all of a sudden when we got out of that room?
no subject
And looks back up at Ena at her question. ]
Yeah. I didn't even notice it, we were all in such a rush to get out. I guess it kicked back in and I didn't even notice.
[ A beat. ]
You... didn't notice anything when you got out here, did you?
no subject
Unlike you, I'm just a regular human, Hiro.
So as expected, no, nothing.
no subject
And then huff a laugh of his own. ]
Still seems kind of unfair, doesn't it? That I got something and you didn't.
no subject
And then her brow furrows.]
Well, it didn't until just now. But now that you point it out--
no subject
Hey, I didn't make the rules. If it was up to me everyone would— Well, we wouldn't be here in the first place, but everyone would at least get something.
[ Good news for the very near future! ]
no subject
Lame.
... Well, maybe they took something else and I just didn't notice, and now I've got it back?
[Like her art...]
no subject
Frowns at that second thought, though. ]
... It's kind of terrifying that they can just take stuff from us.
[ It's by far the thing that scares him the most about this place actually. ]
no subject
He truly takes bullying so well though.]
Yeah, I mean--probably especially for you, huh? Though I guess if they can take your superpowers, there's nothing stopping them from like... taking our vision or hearing or something too.
no subject
... long pause at that sentiment. ]
... Yeah.
[ He's just. Quiet for a bit. Staring at his hands, folding them over one another. ]
It might not even stop at taking. Maybe they can make us do stuff too.
[ He swallows, and, rushed, as if he really needs to convey the sentiment right now: ] I really do not want to hurt you guys.
no subject
[She sits upright at that, brow furrowing. That's not a possibility she'd ever considered before.]
Like--what, like mind control? You're worried they're going to... try to turn you against us?
no subject
Yeah. Or any of us really, but... with the things I can normally do...
[ New biggest fear: unlocked.
He turns to look back at Ena, brows knit together. ]
It kind of seems like we got off easy compared to some of the other people here, don't you think? And that voice, or that thing outside... They're probably going to keep trying.
no subject
[That would be so shitty and yet also so on brand for a place like this.]
Ughhhh--okay. Okay. So, say something like that can happen. What do we do if it does?
no subject
the thing is
there actually is something that can incapacitate Mark, wholly, effectively, and with 100% success. But he's also still selfish enough that he doesn't want people he's just met to learn about it, even after their little trauma-bonding experience.
So he's quiet for a little too long before, finally, ] I don't know.
Maybe we can try to get ahead of it. Figure out how this place works or something.
no subject
Well. That was already the plan, I think. Now we've just got even more reasons to figure it all out ASAP.
no subject
[ He sighs, shifting to sit upright again. ]
Normally I solve my problems by punching them, but I feel like that isn't going to work as well here. Do you think there are any movies that have the right idea?
[ It's either movies or seeing if this school has a library, but movies are easier, so. ]
no subject
Horror's not exactly my favorite genre, so I didn't go out of my way to watch a lot of movies...
But Blossom's pretty genre savvy and keeps up with a lot of media. We could ask her.
no subject
Oh, right, I remember her saying something about that. I'm not saying it's good that she's here or anything, but it is good to have someone who knows a lot! Maybe we'll get this figured out sooner rather than later after all.
[ Optimism!! Go fight win. ]
no subject
... Right! Yeah! I mean, the classroom pretty much hit all of the tropes, and the keys were in an obvious place. [That they only thought to check last but shhh they still figured it out.] We've totally got this.
