[ really? haruka doesn't know mark's father but he has a hard time imagining a stranger committing a heinous crime. he has a hard time imagining that with people he knows too.

he wants to ask what they both could have done but...he's not that greedy. not yet. instead he smiles, small. ]

Well... thanks. But it's easy to mess up when you can do things others can't. There's a whole other spotlight on you and...

sorry to mark that haruka doesn't really clock the embarrassment or rather, he doesn't quite understand why. ]

[ haruka would never normally be this bold, but both curses work in his favor here. the greediness in wanting more of a nice thing and the emotions he's getting from mark that tell him this isn't entirely selfish. he thinks that's what he's feeling anyway and in some ways, he has good intuition. ]

[ There's a flash of surprise on Mark's end at the request, but it fades quick, replaced by something warm, touched. ]

Yeah, of course. [ He grips Haruka a little tighter; he can't properly hug him while they're holding each other like this, but that's the sentiment behind the motion. Haruka seems a little uncertain, and Mark wants to assure him. ] Any time you want. I know being here is kind of a lot, so I'd be happy to help any way I can.

[ And he means it, warm sincerity flowing from him. There's a lot Mark still can't do here, but that? He thinks he can. ]

[ any time? that earns mark a bright grin and blush. really, he doesn't have to be a shiwase because he wears his emotions on his sleeves in neon colors. the almost-hug adds to it, which he returns enthusiastically once he realizes this is actually happening?

he can't help it, he lets out a little giggle too. his joy is real and innocent, wholly uncontained. ]

[ It really does feel unspeakably nice to be able to contribute to someone's joy in a place like this. Like, Mark really can't contain the sentiment enough, his heart soaring at Haruka's giggle. Amid all his uncertainty and what was sure to be something terrifying and—

[ Slowly, Mark will start to lower them back to the ground. ]

[ Since who knows what their days are going to look like in this place... but if they're here for a while then he's sure they'll hang out again. After all, why wouldn't they? That's what friends do! ]
