[At least. . . until a stiff breeze whips through the classrooms, scattering dirty papers and jerking the curtains aside. The clock strikes 6:00 a.m.]

So in the end, it was somewhere more obvious. That's so annoying!

[ He nods as he tugs at the end of the cloth, securing it around his arm. In hindsight, it does make sense for the classroom key to be where a teacher's belongings might be found. ]

But there's no guarantee it was hidden in the same spot for every classroom.

[ But one gets the sense she's being hard on herself for not having found the key for her... class. Homeroom. Whatever! ]

[ That's why he'd thought to check behind the wall clock with Ena, only to be rewarded with that ear-piercing scream loud enough to make both of their ears bleed... ]

[ If he looks closely enough, he might see that under Nei's long, disheveled hair, there's a trail of dried blood coming from her ears, as well. It seems they tried the clock, too. ]

We failed to find the key in time and were attacked by that creature outside the window.

[ The clock did seem like a good hiding spot for a key, didn't it?

Minato's eyes widen upon hearing about the creature. ]

[ Part of him wants to ask if Nei caught a glimpse of what the entire creature looked like. On the other hand, he gets the sense that such a question might just rub salt in the wound of failure. ]

I don't know if I would call it "surviving."

More than an attack, it feels like... it wanted to play with us as punishment for failing, before dumping the rest of us out on the floor.

[ It's actually frustrating— the last thing she saw were the windows breaking, so she can't even say for sure if they "survived" or if the creature let them go. There's a distinction, in her mind. In the end, she's not still here because she was strong enough to withstand the creature's will. She's still here because of the creature's will, and that's worse!! ]

[ Landing in circumstances without having any control over it... He certainly knows others who'd find that especially aggravating. ]

Maybe that was the only way for you to get here.

[ It feels unfair though, to have some of them successfully make their escape while toying with the others before letting them ultimately go free. ]

[ She's still alive. That is what matters, and logically she kows this. But that doesn't stop it from being an apparently very hard pill to swallow, as her face scrunches up a bit, lips pouting. ]

...I'm not going to let it play with me like that again. Absolutely no way!

[ This is her saying yes she's still alive but getting revenge against that thing is now going to be her entire personality. ]

[ He sighs a bit and shifts to sit against the wall, patting the empty space next to him. ]
