so he's just standing here, doing the most awkward combination of a shuffling wallflower along the edges of the gym. while he's doing his best to pay attention to where he's going, he's also not expecting to find burrito people so he totally is shuffling into the one person he actually does know here. ]
A-ah—[ looks down, sees a person and not the floor. ]
Oh, s-sorry, sorry, I didn't— [ ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh? ]
Fu— [ please shut him up. ]

no subject
I mean he doesn't even try to use his hands this is not a throw this is him using his foot to kick the stray shoe at you]
no subject
[So all of that happened at once (annoyance, wide-eyed recognition, further wide-eyed recognition of INCOMING PROBLEM because that's this guy's M.O., relief, annoyance, relief) and now he's down a shoe. God damn it.]
no subject
S-sorry! Sorry, sorry... [ this is not a distressed version of sorry, this is just the usual haruka flavor of it. ]
I didn't mean to—I forgot— [ clutching the shoe! ]
no subject
Hmph. 'Least you caught it. Give it back.
Where'd you even come from, anyway? [blithely ignoring the stammering] This place is even crazier than Milgram.
no subject
here, have your shoe back- ]
The pink team. [ pink is so not his color but he's worn it before, so eh. ]
I thought this was a new exercise that Warden-san thought up for us...
no subject
Pink...
[He's going to have to figure out what it's actually called later. Does Haruka even remember.]
What, did you guys get those weird journals and keys and-- [...] Ghosts? I guess? What the hell were those. I don't think Es'd be able to think up something like that.
/3
Yeah, we got umm, the journal... and we tried to find the key but I just found a lot of spiders instead...

Warden-san is trying his best, you know. If he thought really hard, I think he could— [ he likes Es! though haruka gets why fuuta would feel otherwise, he still feels the need to say it, which comes along with the need to look at fuuta properly for the first time since they've started this conversation. it's not like he was ducking eye contact like he was when they first met, but he's also not the confident haruka who meets gazes easily either. ]
no subject
Fu— [ shuts himself up for once, though please throw the shoe at him again anyway. ]
Y-your eye!!! What happened to it? Did the ghost get it? Can we get it back?
no subject
[Haruka is going to ramble forever if he isn't interrupted, huh. And then he interrupts himself and Fuuta is forced to raise the shoe threateningly. He does not have faith that it would be caught a second time and he actually does need his footwear in this godforsaken place.]
Sit down. [lowers shoe.......] What do you mean, what happened? This is all Milgram. You were there.
[Lowering his voice and hissing the words because it really is annoying having to air his business in the middle of this place.]
no subject
yeah his memory is a bit fuzzy, because before he apparently fell asleep, he was talking with mahiru about waiting for her results. he remembers that, because he was trying his best to be optimistic even if she really didn't need it. for as much as his mind is swiss cheese, he does remember the important things about people he likes, and fuuta easily fits into that category. maybe they haven't called each other friends, but as one of the people who seeks haruka out even if it's usually to chide him or be aggressively 150 years old in his direction, haruka cherishes it all the same. ]
...I was there? [ very much a question and he pauses again, because it's unlike him to push back but this is important. notably, also of importance, he is without hair clips. ]
I-I wasn't. I know Warden-san decided not to forgive you, is this what happens because of that too...? How long was I asleep for...

[If he were in any state of mind for it he'd probably notice Haruka thinking harder, thinking things over for a surprisingly long time in his Haruka way -- but this is a bit of a touchy subject for obvious reasons, along with everything else that just happened piling on top, the encroaching figures at the edge of his vision and the pressure prickling at the back of his neck, familiar and not-fucking-familiar--
Fuuta catches his breath where it's starting to come too fast, pulse hammering and arms wrapped around himself, grabbing at the anger and everything else swirling around it before it spirals out of control.
He's gotten both good and worse at that.]
... Kotoko. She decided to take matters into her own hands just because he forgave her. There were three of us...
You probably didn't see it. But everyone knew. Everyone was around except for Es. Because he just threw down his stupid verdict and then ran off, the bastard.
no subject
he hopes one of them was amane. a thought that rises easier to the top than it should, like a bubble.
...he probably shouldn't, but after looking at how upset fuuta is, specifically the way he wraps his arms around himself—haruka reaches out with one hand. the anger he understands less (at least cognitively), but he understands feeling scared and alone all too well. ]
no subject
M-Mikoto. He fought her off. Mahiru. Kotoko almost finished her off. Shidou's... on emergency duty for that.
[He'll be annoyed with himself later, but he also doesn't remember to think about names at this point in time. At least, not to the point of extrapolating things or worrying about anything or anyone else.]
... Who knows what's going to happen anymore. I don't even know what we'd end up going back to.
[It trails off dully. Milgram is its own circle of hell and here is...]
no subject
Mahiru-san... [ she's so mappi that he really didn't think she could actually be not forgiven. clearly that was just another dumb thought of his, but it makes his heart tremble, the contacts for the both of them at this point. ]
I'm glad we have Shidou-san. [ him and kazui, they'll take care of things right? he bites his lip, looking at the floor. ]
I wanted to go back. But there's a lot of nice people here too...but everyone else...
[ his thoughts blur more aimlessly than usual. he's worried about them now, even if he was feeling pretty good before. ]
no subject
[One breath, half-sigh, shuddering -- then he finally shrugs off the hand, moving instead to sit side-by-side, wincing at the strain. This feels more normal. He needs to pull himself back instead of wallowing. If he starts again he's not sure he'd stop at this point.
It's irritating as much as it freaks him the fuck out. This place and Milgram both.
He tucks his chin behind his knees.]
I don't know -- if I'd wanna go back. Can't stand that place, but Es should be waking up soon, then it won't matter anymore. [closing his eye again] This place could be worse, I guess.
[Even with everything that's happened so far, it's hard to weigh one way or the other right now.]
no subject
I trust Warden-san more than I trust the ghosts. We didn't even get to see them... [ because they're a ghost, but that's not a joke, it's haruka being haruka. ]
...it's kind of the same thing, but different. I don't really mind where I am, as long as it's not going back to my home. If it was just me, I'd think this is another punishment for...but Warden-san forgave me and it's not that bad, like you said.
You don't deserve to be punished, here or in Milgram.
no subject
Contraband or something dumb like that.]
That’s where you’re wrong. Ghosts and curses are dumb and don’t make any sense, but they don’t have to. You just gotta stop them.
[It is not a coherent argument, he’s just doing a mumbling ramble of whatever comes to mind. Are real ghosts better? Or—
Haruka’s words filter through slowly, and not just because of impaired hearing. He’s slow to react, though most of it was stuff he knew or could make a wild guess at on a good day. Haruka is Haruka, for better or for worse.
Fuuta’s gaze flickers back over briefly and then away again.]
Maybe this is just a different kind of punishment. ‘Least we aren’t the only ones. And pretty much everybody’s against it this time.
[He doesn’t properly address what was addressed to him — it’s not really something he can digest right now, even if he can hear it.]
no subject
the latter is at least more important anyway. ]
Then...I hope everyone can get along. [ himself included! ]
Even if I'm not alone here... I'm glad you're here with me.
[ he'll realize in a few seconds that such a thing was too bold and selfish to say. ]
no subject
He’s just going with the flow, even if that is not bothering to be watchful and inanely dropping everything on the floor.]
Doubt it.
[It’s not even bitter or cynical it’s just matter of fact. If this place and Milgram are similar enough then this nice little respite in the gym will be about the best they can do. To underscore that he elbows Haruka; there’s no force behind it.]
You’re really way too okay with the weirdest things.
no subject
at least the jab distracted him. ]
Yeah, I know. Umm... [ >> haruka tries to use Confidence. ]
Should I say sorry?
