[if april showers bring may flowers, then july showers bring. . .?]
Who: everyone!
When: July 31st throughout the day
Where: outside, but also wherever you want to be!
What: a general all-purpose mingle with flavor
Warnings: nada
[Today, for the first time since your arrival, dark and angry clouds gather in the sky above to block out the sun. It is sweltering outside, so when those clouds eventually open up in the early afternoon, showering everyone with cool rain, rolling thunder, and a few flashes of lightning. . . it probably feels good!]
[It seems to be normal rain, for the most part. Look at it from the wrong angle and some if it may seem to be tinted red, like blood. And sometimes, when a drop spatters against the ground, a spider lily suddenly blossoms in its place. The flower dies almost immediately upon springing to life, its petals dissolving into dust that is quickly washed away by the rest of the water]
[dwbi]
[. . . things have been awfully quiet since your arrival. It feels almost a bit like the calm before the storm, doesn't it? Are you still waiting for that other shoe to drop. . .?]
[What else are you up to today!]

I'm sure she has so many that you couldn't even if you tried.

[glancing at the rain again, watching as another spider lily pops up and vanishes in an instant]

. . . my mom also passed away a few of years ago. I was in my early twenties, so I still got to have some time with her, but. . .
[. . .]
. . . you know.

I know.
She gave ya yer life. And probably a lot more, cuz she was able to stick around longer. Giftin' ya loads of moments and words.
1/2
[fuck]
2/3 actually
. . . yeah! That's the gist of it, isn't it?
[tilting his head towards Mocha with a smile]
She was pretty strict, but kind. Always pushed me to excel in school. . . she taught me English and classical Chinese when I was a kid, and you know how valuable it is to know multiple languages.

[a small shrug]
I spent a really long time taking care of her, but. . . I don't regret it. It felt natural, you know?
To give back to her everything she had given me.

. . . I suppose it depends. . . there's the concept of reincarnation, of course. That the spirit is reborn into a new life after it passes on. But some people also believe the spirit persists even after death; that's why we build altars and graves, as places where we can make offerings to those who have gone to the other side. And then some people believe in heaven and hell. . .
[. . .]
Honestly, I don't know which one I believe in the most. But. . . I visit my mom's grave as much as I can, and I always feel like she's with me when I do.
