Good evening. Hopefully this isn't a bad time? Enough time has passed that we figured it was a good idea to check in and make proper introductions.

You'll have to forgive the lack of housewarming gift. We're a bit shorthanded at the moment, which I'm sure you can relate to.

The closest I ever got was hanging out with the neighborhood strays. I think dealing with the. . . ghost cats? Felt kind of nostalgic because of that.

In Tokyo! That's where I live now, too. I've lived there my whole life, actually.

. . . it was only a few years ago that I started stepping out to see the world.

Does that mean you're traveling the world? Like, outside of Japan?

I am. I was heading from Portugal to Spain before being brought here. You could call it an international coffee tour.

Huh! So... what's the best coffee you've had?

It wasn't while I was abroad because I haven't been to South America yet. . . but I really like a good Braizlian robusta! It's a bit earthy, but surprisingly low in bitterness compared to other robustas.

[a pause and a thoughtful headtilt]

Do you drink coffee, Botan?

Probably nothing a coffee connoisseur like you would like.

I like lattes and iced coffees. I like trying trendy things, like new flavors or mixes. [That photograph well.]

I feel that way about everything they serve here. I can't believe we're stuck eating this for who knows how long.

I guess we're just art buddies now. He wanted to do some drawing with me, so. We bonded over that.

That's right. I mean, I'm still in high school, but... I'm planning on going to art school.
