[. . . july showers bring august ghosts]
Who: EVERYONE
When: August 3, wobbly hands
Where: Around the school!
What: some things happened. the school is suddenly a lot more crowded
Warnings: references to blood and bite injuries, but otherwise, non! unless you bring something to the party yourself
[August 3 stars off. . . weird.]
[The morning bell chimes at 6 a.m., as it usually does! But there appears to be a very thin layer of fog settled against the ground outside. Some of it seeps into the school's hallways, before dissipating in a few wisps of haze. Weird??]
[As the day goes on, you feel like you can hear strange whispers echoing in the air-- a voice, hissing the word miiiiiiiine over and over again. Also weird!]
[And by the time the afternoon hits, you may find yourself running into some very unwanted guests. You've been here two weeks, and this is the first time you're seeing these guys?? Where have they been??]
[By the way, the nurse's office is unlocked!]

Re: THE NURSE'S OFFICE
Why would you be an outcast? Is it because of the "devil" comment you made?
Re: THE NURSE'S OFFICE
probably not, but being who she is, she doesn't think of that. and won't think of that until later. ]
Yes. For example... imagine parents having certain appearance had baby, having completely opposite appearance. How do you think people are thinking?
Re: THE NURSE'S OFFICE
Ah, an ugly duckling situation, being outcast from your own kind for being different. In Greek mythology, it was common for normal humans to give birth to monsters, like the minotaur! That certainly caused a stir.
--ah, not to speak of you as a monster. But, you were discarded for being deemed a mistake, is that it? That practice isn't unheard of in my world, with people frowning upon deformities and disabilities.
Erm. Which is to say, I'm sorry and wish that was not the case for you.

Re: THE NURSE'S OFFICE
So, Tiefling, was it? Thanks, it was needling at the back of my head for a while, but I didn't want to be rude.
Re: THE NURSE'S OFFICE
Re: THE NURSE'S OFFICE
It's a classic fairy tale of German origin, one of many collected by the Brothers Grimm.
In the story, a simple man is bragging that his daughter can spin straw to gold for clout. Greedy and naive, the king of the town captures his daughter and locks her in a room, demanding she turn all the straw into gold by morning. Obviously, she can't, so she's cries out for help, and an imp appears. The imp offers to spin the the straw for her in exchange for her glass jewels. She accepts, and he creates the gold.
The king wants more and more, keeps her locked away, and every night the girl gives this little imp more of her possessions so she won't be killed. On the final night, locked away in the biggest room full of straw, the girl is dismayed because she has nothing else to offer the imp. So as a compromise. . .he asks for her firstborn, and she agrees.
After seeing so much gold, the king finally releases the girl and marries her, so she never has to work again. She bares a child and who should show up? The imp.
The new queen begs the imp reconsider, and he says he will if she can guess his name in three days. She fails the first two, and in a fit of despair, she takes a walk in the woods. There she stumbles on the imp, gloating to himself about how no one will ever guess his name--Rumpelstiltskin.
The next day, the queen reveals the name to them imp, who's so furious he was bested after all this time, that he splits his body in half. The queen and her family live in peace.
So, not really like the Tieflings you mentioned, but more like. . .if they were able to get out of the deal. Really, I think the story is moreso a warning against being a braggart.
Re: THE NURSE'S OFFICE
He is sounding to me like fey creature, not infernal.
Re: THE NURSE'S OFFICE
Mm, that's a key difference, yeah. But back home, some see them as the same. An imp is no different than a demon, a fairy an angel, a yokai a simple boogieman. It just varies person to person.
