[The morning bell chimes at 6 a.m., as it usually does! But there appears to be a very thin layer of fog settled against the ground outside. Some of it seeps into the school's hallways, before dissipating in a few wisps of haze. Weird??]

[As the day goes on, you feel like you can hear strange whispers echoing in the air-- a voice, hissing the word miiiiiiiine over and over again. Also weird!]

[And by the time the afternoon hits, you may find yourself running into some very unwanted guests. You've been here two weeks, and this is the first time you're seeing these guys?? Where have they been??]

[By the way, the nurse's office is unlocked!]

eyeing him from a moment but doesn't take the carton, just leans forward drinks from the straw.]

this is the better standards. it's far more modern than where he's coming from, for one thing. less violent (so far), for another...]

But either way, you're not wrong to hate what's happening here. It's not a good situation.

[khhhh. . . yeah, he is clocking into that fact, even if he doesn't want to say it aloud. it makes him feel some kind of way by reminding him of all of the bullshit that Smith has been through]

If you want to go mad, then by all means. Focus on the things you can't change.

... but if you'd rather get back on your feet and try for the things you can change, then dwelling won't help, no.

But there's also nothing wrong with taking some time to come to grips with things, either. If you have the time, then take that time.

[adapt and change along with his surroundings, like a chameleon. as he has always done, when his worldviews are upended like this. exhausting as it sometimes is]
