[August 3 stars off. . . weird.]

[The morning bell chimes at 6 a.m., as it usually does! But there appears to be a very thin layer of fog settled against the ground outside. Some of it seeps into the school's hallways, before dissipating in a few wisps of haze. Weird??]

[As the day goes on, you feel like you can hear strange whispers echoing in the air-- a voice, hissing the word miiiiiiiine over and over again. Also weird!]

[And by the time the afternoon hits, you may find yourself running into some very unwanted guests. You've been here two weeks, and this is the first time you're seeing these guys?? Where have they been??]

[By the way, the nurse's office is unlocked!]

[ It almost definitely is gonna get worse! ]

It's our fault for getting a bit too comfortable, maybe.

[ Or at least that's how she feels about herself.

She turns the page on the book in front of her, frowning at the diagrams of how to insert an IV. Under her breath, almost but not quite inaudibly, she grumbles. ]

I miss when I didn't have to worry too much about this shit.

[Suzuha's thinking the same thing, really. All this time to lure them all into letting their guard down, just for an opportune strike. They're lucky it was only a handful of them that got injured, and that nobody died. Yet.

She pulls out a book herself, settling down into a nearby chair.]

Worrying about it just feels like second nature to me at this point. Hate not knowing what we're up against.

I could say the same. Not knowing what to expect and feeling so adrift is driving me up a wall. I don't like feeling like I'm not in control of a situation.

[ Perhaps a more frank admission than she'd make under different circumstances, but honestly? This place sucks and she's more rattled than she's trying to let on. ]

[She can't really blame anyone for being rattled by all of this. Suzuha's been doing an admirable job of keeping it together out of necessity, but even she can't deny the growing pit of dread sitting leaden in her chest the longer they're all stuck here.]

I'm kind of used to being on the back foot, but this... The longer we're here, the more it makes me worry.

[She sighs, flipping open her book but not really paying the contents much attention just yet.]

We really ought to gather as much intel as we can, start figuring all this out.

I agree. We should start by making a record of what we do know and try to draw conclusions from there.

[ She makes a mental note to try and find some paper outside of the journal that's back in their dorm. ]

And by taking the opportunities this place does give us to learn. Like this one.

Yeah. [She taps the book in front of her.] Think these'll be a big help, considering how dangerous things are getting again.

[It feels like she's been waiting for the other shoe to drop all this time... well, things are no longer as quiet as they have been.]

Probably not a bad idea to keep records of the things people run into around here.

That's what my company does back home. It's a good way to keep track of things so you know how to deal with them. And since we're going to be here for awhile, it'll be information we can use.

[ Sigh. ]

I'll look for paper when we're done here.

[There's clear interest in her eyes when she mentions her familiarity with this sort of thing back home.]

Gotta be some around here we can use. Hard part will be actually gathering all that intel... I'm down to lend a hand, though.

[Going anywhere near these things is probably a bad idea, but, well. They need to know now, rather than get caught off guard later.]

[ She sees that interest. They'll have to exchange stories about their experiences one of these days. ]

It's a school. Paper is one of the most important supplies they have here, usually.

And if not, there's plenty of space in the journal that we can borrow. I'm sure Kin-un won't mind.

Yeah, I guess not. Wonder if we'll get ever get word from Kai-un again.

[They'd clearly been the one to warn them about the names, so there's one ostensible ally they've got here, but the radio silence since then hasn't been encouraging.]

I hope so. If only for them to see Eowyn's doodles.

[ Ishmael's certainly noticed her drawings slowly filling up a page. ]

But more to the point, to give us some sort of direction. We're all adrift here without even a breeze to move us along.

The more the days go by, the more worrying it becomes. Really hate the idea of being stuck here.
