[The morning bell chimes at 6 a.m., as it usually does! But there appears to be a very thin layer of fog settled against the ground outside. Some of it seeps into the school's hallways, before dissipating in a few wisps of haze. Weird??]

[As the day goes on, you feel like you can hear strange whispers echoing in the air-- a voice, hissing the word miiiiiiiine over and over again. Also weird!]

[And by the time the afternoon hits, you may find yourself running into some very unwanted guests. You've been here two weeks, and this is the first time you're seeing these guys?? Where have they been??]

[By the way, the nurse's office is unlocked!]

Are you experienced with rituals?

I mean a lil'? I got to magic school. Ancient curses and shit ain't my expertise but I ain't unfamiliar with basic concepts involved.

That's actually more than what most people I've spoken to know. You're not wrong that the injuries are just from a simple attack.

But why did the attack happen, specifically? That's what we don't know.

... a lot of rituals can be disguised by a disturbing or large event with mass casualties. And it's not difficult to limit the numbers and still hide the intent.

It could be a ritual where blood had to be spilled, for example. No matter how it happened, the condition would be met.

Blood was split before the big injury though. He and I was both bleedin' before then.

I'm only giving examples. The way the injury is dealt, the amount of blood spilled--those are factors I can't know without knowing more about what ritual it may be.

This is all theory.

I've just... many experiences with rituals being disguised as something else. So I'm wary.

Surely. But mmm......this seems like it ain't fancy enough yet for that sorta thing. Ya know? In my experience the fuckers who do rituals are fulla pomp and bullshit.

As for extraordinary.

One of my classmates casted a sleep spell over an entire island and trapped us all in perfect dreams. That's thousands of people. Several who are high class mages in their own right.

But you are right that this is still pretty small scale, if you don't factor in who was brought here.
