[ Knock knock, open up, there is some number of Anzens at your door.

A pretty lady in sky blue smiles and waves. ]

Good evening. Hopefully this isn't a bad time? Enough time has passed that we figured it was a good idea to check in and make proper introductions.

You'll have to forgive the lack of housewarming gift. We're a bit shorthanded at the moment, which I'm sure you can relate to.

[ From behind her peers a perfectly average guy with tousled hair dressed in sky blue slacks. He gives a friendly wave! ]

[ aaaand it’s another who needs an explanation… god, akechi is exhausted. ]

Kind, but ultimately useless in a place like this. [ he says dryly before pausing. ]

Listen. About the other day…

[his gaze slides towards Smith, but his next words are sympathetic]

Your classmate told me.

It was your omamori, right?

[ akechi's eyes follow him before he frowns. it's good that the information is being sent out to the rest, but... still. part of him cringes at the thought of being talked about like that. ]

Yes, well, [ he sighs, getting back on track. ] Yes. I'm afraid for our own... sanity, it really is best we keep them with us.

[an understanding smile]

. . . that's good information to know, since these things didn't come with any instructions.

But I'm glad you're feeling. . . better.

So much better. [ he says with a sarcastic smile... before trying to reel it in.

he sighs. ]

Yes, well, thank you. I'm glad to be back in my right mind as well. And I suppose the knowledge isn't... bad to have.

[HONESTLY. . . CAN'T EVEN BEGRUDGE HIM THE SARCASM. . .]

No, but I can imagine being the first one to figure it out feels a little crappy. Why'd you decide to ditch it?

It's fine. [ he lies simply, crossing his arms again. but then- ]

At least people know. [ as for the question... he hums, and then an off-putting smile appears on his face. ]

I suppose I could lie and say it was just curiosity. But the fact of the matter is... I simply don't like being told what to do.

[it's fine. uh huh. Puck doesn't believe that for a second]

Yeah? Well. . . I get that.

[and he does. he truly does, as someone else known for following the otherwise ill-advised whims of his heart when it matters]

Blind rebellion doesn't get you anywhere, though. You've got to be strategic about it.

It seemed strategic enough at the time. [ he hums, for once not taking offense- seeming more thoughtful. ] I felt like I had to have this thing on me, and I was in a place filled with ghosts.

[ a pause. ]

Listening didn't automatically seem like the best response, anyway.

[he nods and makes an understanding noise]

In surroundings as unfamiliar as these, with so many things trying to tell us to do one thing or another, and no indication otherwise as to who is friend or foe. . .

. . . I understand.

[truly, he does]

[ hmm. he sounds sincere enough-

which akechi has absolutely no idea what to do with.

he hums. ]

Well… at least someone does. [ he huffs. everyone’s been completely understanding so far of his apology- but this was a different sort. ]

All that aside! We didn't have the chance to properly introduce ourselves, did we?

I'm going by Puck for the time being.

[ people actually being sincere is still something he’s getting used to- and this guy is a total stranger, so!!

but of course he wants introductions. akechi nods. ]

Other than the incident with your charm. . . how are you doing? Are you settling in well with your class?

[ akechi gives him an amused look. ]

Did someone appoint you to check in with everyone?

[blinks]

N. . . no?

Who would even have the power to do that, anyway?

I suppose that’s a good point. [ he hums, more concerned with that than with the concern for him. ]

There’s no one in charge, save for ghosts. Do you suppose this is a psychological experiment?

[ his mouth twitches. ]

[. . . hah]

I'd put money on it if our first encounter with that thing is proven to be an incredibly elaborate act.

[but considering some of the other things he has seen. . .]

But if it was a real ghost, then this place is just super haunted.

Indeed. [ akechi sighs. he's doing that a lot, lately. ]

"Super haunted," when where I'm from ghosts don't even exist. [ in his opinion, anyway. ] So what are we do to? Up against such unknowns.

[ and that brings him back to- ]

Experimenting seemed wise.

[ no he isn't letting this go ]

[but wait, didn't this guy say he had experience with ghosts. . . of a sort? a pause as Puck squints at him, but he doesn't push]

Do you have any more experiments rattling around in that brain of yours?

[ of a sort!! creatures created by the collective unconscious... sort of count, right??

he gives him an odd smile. ]

Asking out of curiosity? Or preparation?

[HE WOULDN'T KNOW!!!]

I hope you're not offended when I say both.

[raises a brow]

It never hurts to have backup, dude.

[ damn... he hasn't played hit game persona 5 royal now available on the nintendo switch-

akechi laughs, completely unoffended. ]

[ SAY IT ISN'T SO...

akechi lets out a small laugh at that. ]

I don't- [ he was about to say he doesn't need back-up, but... he's recently learned that there is something to this working in numbers thing.

so he looks like he's swallowing a lemon as he says it, but- ]
