[On Friday morning at 6:00 a.m. on the dot, the student body is awoken not by the bell, but by the sound of meowing echoing over the intercom.

[It's not just the PA system, either. Soft, gentle, and very cute mewls fill the classroom hallways; distant on floors one and two, but much louder on floor three. Intrepid explorers who follow the noise will find that one of the third floor classrooms has been overtaken by a pack of ghostly cats!]

[Each creature is the size of a normal housecat, and has the mannerisms of one. That is, they will attempt to hop into your lap for some prime cuddling time, ears and tails flicking adorably all the while. Their bodies are a pale, ghostly white, and their eyes glow a soft, gentle blue. Although they are translucent, they are still solid to the touch, and they feel just like a normal cat does. Soft fur and everything! Aren't they precious? Aren't they just so stinkin' cute??? DON'T YOU JUST WANT TO SMOOSH THEIR ROUND LI'L KITTEN FACES??]

[So long as characters are kind to the cat spirits, the Nekomata are completely harmless. They just want to play and snuggle!! Although. . .]

[Anyone who touches a cat spirit will find themselves hit with a sudden need for physical contact. This can range from something small (desiring a high five) to something bigger (needing to CUDDLE THE SHIT outta someone). Being surrounded by more than one Nekomata means the compulsion becomes stronger, too! One cat means it can probably be safely ignored, but five?? If you don't HOLD SOMEONE'S HAND RIGHT THIS SECOND you JUST MAY DIE!!]

[Oh, so you don't like cats? No problem! The Nekomata are mischievous creatures, and they WILL leap onto people's backs and shoulders without warning. Being cat spirits, they can also teleport from one place to another, so. . . you can be minding your own business one second, blink, and then be staring into the eyes of a cute cat spirit perched on your lap the next.]

[The Nekomata will be drawn towards members of Anzen more than anyone else per their target lock curse, but they are excited to shower literally anyone in a bit of cute kitty affection, regardless of their homeroom]

[Please let me know if your character is being violent and/or aggressive towards the Nekomata. Otherwise, enjoy some compulsive physical bonding with a cute ghostly flair!]

Well, you should have thought of that before you had a young lady do something she would have preferred to not do, now shouldn't you?

[ Although the mild scolding and the meows of protest do make her laugh briefly. It's endearing, how he's talking to the cat like it's going to understand him, but she absolutely does that kind of thing too.

That weight is still on her chest, though. And her hands are tingling with the urge to reach out again. ]

I guess if this is the price that we have to pay for cuddling them, it could be worse.

[ But she really wants to scooch closer... ]

[using book to shoo at the nekomata who... do not appear to be shooing. unconscious leans in her direction as he does so, also.]

I have too much respect for you to insist on acting on some random impulse like that.

But if we don't, is it just going to go away on its own?

[ Also, he's leaning toward her. Not that close, but close enough that she does want to reach out again. So badly. She bites down on her lip, not wanting to invade his space without getting express permission.

The nekomata start meowing, as if egging them on. Although they're still just way too cute... Pesky yet endearing little friends. ]

... are we assuming that going along with it will make it stop?

[he is unsure that's the case but.]

I don't mind going along with it as long as we are both certain it's not anything untoward or... at least, it's for practicality's sake.

Well, it would at least be a way to test our theory, right?

[ Tifa suspects that he'll approve of that much. ]

It has to beat continuing to feel like this...

[ Especially if they're both in agreement. ]

[ Gives him a firm nod, glancing down at his hand before she reaches out to clasp it with her own.

The relief is immediate, enough that she heaves out a breath like she'd been holding it. ]

Wow...

[ Just how does that work? ]

[you know that feeling of relief that almost hurts? yeah, Klein's a bit startled by that feeling and leans forward a bit like he just took a punch to the gut--taking care not to tighten his grip.]

... I didn't think it was that bad, but...

[whooo... exhaling.]

[ Oh, that reaction... He must have really been holding himself back from asking for what he needed in this moment. Then again, hadn't Tifa been doing the same? She interlaces their fingers, wondering if that might help. ]

[reflexive hand squeeze to prove that he is, in fact, fine.]

I guess I just thought I had a decent handle on it.

Even something like this, which is pretty harmless, can have a pretty big effect on us...

[ It makes her worry about what else might be in store for them. ]
