[early morning cat posting]

When: July 25
Where: class 3-C
What: a few visitors!
Warnings: none!
[On Friday morning at 6:00 a.m. on the dot, the student body is awoken not by the bell, but by the sound of meowing echoing over the intercom.
[It's not just the PA system, either. Soft, gentle, and very cute mewls fill the classroom hallways; distant on floors one and two, but much louder on floor three. Intrepid explorers who follow the noise will find that one of the third floor classrooms has been overtaken by a pack of ghostly cats!]
[Each creature is the size of a normal housecat, and has the mannerisms of one. That is, they will attempt to hop into your lap for some prime cuddling time, ears and tails flicking adorably all the while. Their bodies are a pale, ghostly white, and their eyes glow a soft, gentle blue. Although they are translucent, they are still solid to the touch, and they feel just like a normal cat does. Soft fur and everything! Aren't they precious? Aren't they just so stinkin' cute??? DON'T YOU JUST WANT TO SMOOSH THEIR ROUND LI'L KITTEN FACES??]
[So long as characters are kind to the cat spirits, the Nekomata are completely harmless. They just want to play and snuggle!! Although. . .]
[Anyone who touches a cat spirit will find themselves hit with a sudden need for physical contact. This can range from something small (desiring a high five) to something bigger (needing to CUDDLE THE SHIT outta someone). Being surrounded by more than one Nekomata means the compulsion becomes stronger, too! One cat means it can probably be safely ignored, but five?? If you don't HOLD SOMEONE'S HAND RIGHT THIS SECOND you JUST MAY DIE!!]
[Oh, so you don't like cats? No problem! The Nekomata are mischievous creatures, and they WILL leap onto people's backs and shoulders without warning. Being cat spirits, they can also teleport from one place to another, so. . . you can be minding your own business one second, blink, and then be staring into the eyes of a cute cat spirit perched on your lap the next.]
[The Nekomata will be drawn towards members of Anzen more than anyone else per their target lock curse, but they are excited to shower literally anyone in a bit of cute kitty affection, regardless of their homeroom]
[Please let me know if your character is being violent and/or aggressive towards the Nekomata. Otherwise, enjoy some compulsive physical bonding with a cute ghostly flair!]

Although it's even worse than that. She's never even seen a cat before. Tifa's eyes go wide. ]
Wow... it never occurred to me that there might be places where cats don't exist.
[ EVEN MORE TRAGIC.
She does smile as the girl already starts to daydream about dressing up the cats. ]
Some of them will put up with it — others are a little more fussy about it. Fluffy used to hate it when I tried to play dress up with her...
[ She says it fondly, though, like she's barely holding back a laugh at the memory. ]

Mm... I've learned a lot of you seem to come from "Earth," but that's a planet we only ever heard about where I live. It was taken over a long time ago... [ That must be where cats originally came from...? Given everyone's familiarty with them. Either way, animals like that just don't exist on any of the planets she's lived on. ] So I won't know any of the animals from there.

[ Which — okay, they basically have the same meaning, but Tifa's already established that Earth is a completely different place. The only other person here from Gaia is Yuffie, she's pretty sure.
Still, this talk of Earth being "taken over" is a new detail. Tifa tilts her head at that, wondering if anyone else had mentioned something like that. But it's tough to keep track of where everyone's from. ]
Still, I guess some places have overlap and some don't...?
[ Though then she notices the girl's hand getting a little close to the cat's tummy. ]
— Careful. Even if they show their belly like that, sometimes they'll still scratch or bite when it's touched.

[ DISAPPOINTMENT.... which shows plainly on her face. Look at that fluffy tummy, it's perfect for petting. Her hand hovers over the spot, but only thanks to Tifa's sound advice. ]

[ How to explain this? It really seems like this girl knows so little about domesticated animals. Then again, reading cat behavior and body language is definitely a learned art, so it's not like Tifa blames her. ]
It's more like it's a vulnerable spot for them?
[ She scratches the cat she has behind the ears, though, to show the pink-haired girl another place she can try that's relatively safe. ]
