[early morning cat posting]
Who: everyone
When: July 25
Where: class 3-C
What: a few visitors!
Warnings: none!
[On Friday morning at 6:00 a.m. on the dot, the student body is awoken not by the bell, but by the sound of meowing echoing over the intercom.
[It's not just the PA system, either. Soft, gentle, and very cute mewls fill the classroom hallways; distant on floors one and two, but much louder on floor three. Intrepid explorers who follow the noise will find that one of the third floor classrooms has been overtaken by a pack of ghostly cats!]
[Each creature is the size of a normal housecat, and has the mannerisms of one. That is, they will attempt to hop into your lap for some prime cuddling time, ears and tails flicking adorably all the while. Their bodies are a pale, ghostly white, and their eyes glow a soft, gentle blue. Although they are translucent, they are still solid to the touch, and they feel just like a normal cat does. Soft fur and everything! Aren't they precious? Aren't they just so stinkin' cute??? DON'T YOU JUST WANT TO SMOOSH THEIR ROUND LI'L KITTEN FACES??]
[So long as characters are kind to the cat spirits, the Nekomata are completely harmless. They just want to play and snuggle!! Although. . .]
[Anyone who touches a cat spirit will find themselves hit with a sudden need for physical contact. This can range from something small (desiring a high five) to something bigger (needing to CUDDLE THE SHIT outta someone). Being surrounded by more than one Nekomata means the compulsion becomes stronger, too! One cat means it can probably be safely ignored, but five?? If you don't HOLD SOMEONE'S HAND RIGHT THIS SECOND you JUST MAY DIE!!]
[Oh, so you don't like cats? No problem! The Nekomata are mischievous creatures, and they WILL leap onto people's backs and shoulders without warning. Being cat spirits, they can also teleport from one place to another, so. . . you can be minding your own business one second, blink, and then be staring into the eyes of a cute cat spirit perched on your lap the next.]
[The Nekomata will be drawn towards members of Anzen more than anyone else per their target lock curse, but they are excited to shower literally anyone in a bit of cute kitty affection, regardless of their homeroom]
[Please let me know if your character is being violent and/or aggressive towards the Nekomata. Otherwise, enjoy some compulsive physical bonding with a cute ghostly flair!]

[ But that's okay; she tickles the tummy of a cat. ]
It seems like they like this enough just as it is, anyway.
no subject
[ He perks up, moving to join her. There's a whole other cat here to pet, this one pawing at his leg until he crouches down to ruffle the top of its head. ]
Doesn't seem like it takes a lot to keep them happy. It's nice.
[ It's simple! It's peaceful! They've earned this.
A beat, as Mark looks back up at her. ]
They don't, uh... They're not trying to go after your wings or anything all the time, are they?
[ The feathers... ]
no subject
[ She slips out mild surprise that he's even thought of it, but Koharu just as quickly laughs about it. ]
Not enough to bother me! Honestly, it's kind of cute... But if I do this– [ She twirls the feather in front of the cat, and it playfully paws at it. ] –I think it distracts them enough.
no subject
Good! That's good. I guess, uh... You're the only one I've seen around who might have anything that cats might be that interested in.
[ Ooh how awkward was that... He's just gonna scoop his cat up into his arms, even as its eyes start following the feather too. ]
I just meant that, like, I haven't seen anybody else who has wings or anything.
[ extremely foot in mouth here. a beat. ]
Sorry.
no subject
It's okay—really. I know they're kind of strange to everybody... If I were anybody else, I'd be curious too.
[ With that, she offers the feather to him. ]
Here. You can use it to play with the cats if you want.
no subject
He immediately goes to dangle the feather in front of his cat, laughing as he lets it go so it can properly paw at it, before a realization comes to him. ]
There was a guy who said he that there was a cupid with him earlier... That has to be you then, huh?
[ Just a little curious! But non-judgmental. It's cool to meet her, actually! ]
no subject
Oh, maybe. [ she says, lightly teasing. ] I think I stand out a lot here, huh.

no subject
What? You can fly?
[ but he isn't the one with wings here??? ]
no subject
Yup. Just like this...
[ And he'll float upwards with seemingly no effort, continuing to dangle the feather above the cat. Now it has a more mobile target! ]
I'm a superhero, so it comes with the territory for me. [ ... ] You can call me Hiro, by the way.
no subject
Like... like in the movies?
[ Wow. Whoa. Okay. ]
That's incredible... So you fly with—superpowers?
no subject
Yeah, pretty much. I'm half alien, so I got them from my dad.
[ Still waving the feather back and forth, watching the cat jump up at it... Okay yeah now he can see why having string maybe would be that much better, but this is still working.
Also, it gives him a second to pause, frowning. ]
I couldn't earlier though. When we were in that room, with that thing outside... I couldn't fly then. Like it was cut off from me.
no subject
—Hm? When were you able to start flying again?
[ "Powers" isn't something she's thought deeply about; hers are, well... they're only useful for her particular line of work, and the others in Yakuyoke are all straight up human (that she's aware of). This would be the first it's come up at all. ]
no subject
[ A little odd to be able to think of anything as relieving in a place like this, but especially with these cats around, it's pretty easy to, actually. ]
... Please tell me you didn't have that problem, though.
[ Since she like. Actually has wings. Otherwise, it might feel like anyone's legs could stop working at any time, and that's also a terrifying concept. ]
no subject
[ She trails off, going red in the face; there's a hint of embarrassment in the way she glances away from him. ]
I don't... actually know how to fly yet, so I haven't been able to tell.
no subject
Oh boy. He's also going red in the face, immediately dropping back to the ground. He also ends up dropping the feather in his own embarrassment, and the cat just pounces on it. ]
Shit, I'm sorry. [ Rubbing his arm awkwardly... ] Um... The only thing I can tell you is when you learn, stay low to start, because landing is hard.
Like really, really hard.
no subject
Is it? [ Well, duly noted. ] My mentors back home make it look so easy, but I guess that comes with experience. They'd probably tell me the same thing, then.
no subject
Sore subject for him, but that's his own damage. Nope. Mark sucks in a breath before forcing himself to smile at her. ]
Yeah, once you get going it's as natural as walking. Um... I probably can't teach you, [ since their methods of flying are not going to be the same, ] but if you ever want to try here, I can at least make sure you don't crash into the ground or anything.
[ A beat. ]
That is if you don't mind the whole people-feel-my-emotions-when-I-touch-them thing...
[ awkward again ]
no subject
[ And his feefees probably aren't a screaming torment of agony just from doing like, normal things. ]
I'll just have to figure out how to start practicing at all... But if I do, I wouldn't say no to the help.
no subject
Yeah, just let me know. [ Smiling, because his feelings really are normal. ] I got my start by jumping off of a roof, so... don't do that. Maybe off of like, a table or something would be better.
no subject
[ Phew. ]
This may sound a little bad, but I already had my moment of falling off a roof once. I... definitely wasn't able to figure out how to fly that way.
no subject
I'm just glad the roof experience wasn't that bad... I assume. If we can kind of joke about it a little. If that's what we're doing...
[ ... ]
No, but really. Any way I can help, just let me know. It'd be nice to have a flying buddy, if we ever figure it out.
no subject
Of course! Honestly, I really should learn how, and it seems like we have nothing but free time, anyway. Surely there's a way to do it.
no subject
Yeah! We can brainstorm.
... How old are cupids usually when you learn to fly, anyway? I'm only asking because I was a late bloomer, so like — I get it if it takes a while.
no subject
I don't—um... [ She trails off, thinking. ] I guess... it'd be around my age?
