[On Friday morning at 6:00 a.m. on the dot, the student body is awoken not by the bell, but by the sound of meowing echoing over the intercom.

[It's not just the PA system, either. Soft, gentle, and very cute mewls fill the classroom hallways; distant on floors one and two, but much louder on floor three. Intrepid explorers who follow the noise will find that one of the third floor classrooms has been overtaken by a pack of ghostly cats!]

[Each creature is the size of a normal housecat, and has the mannerisms of one. That is, they will attempt to hop into your lap for some prime cuddling time, ears and tails flicking adorably all the while. Their bodies are a pale, ghostly white, and their eyes glow a soft, gentle blue. Although they are translucent, they are still solid to the touch, and they feel just like a normal cat does. Soft fur and everything! Aren't they precious? Aren't they just so stinkin' cute??? DON'T YOU JUST WANT TO SMOOSH THEIR ROUND LI'L KITTEN FACES??]

[So long as characters are kind to the cat spirits, the Nekomata are completely harmless. They just want to play and snuggle!! Although. . .]

[Anyone who touches a cat spirit will find themselves hit with a sudden need for physical contact. This can range from something small (desiring a high five) to something bigger (needing to CUDDLE THE SHIT outta someone). Being surrounded by more than one Nekomata means the compulsion becomes stronger, too! One cat means it can probably be safely ignored, but five?? If you don't HOLD SOMEONE'S HAND RIGHT THIS SECOND you JUST MAY DIE!!]

[Oh, so you don't like cats? No problem! The Nekomata are mischievous creatures, and they WILL leap onto people's backs and shoulders without warning. Being cat spirits, they can also teleport from one place to another, so. . . you can be minding your own business one second, blink, and then be staring into the eyes of a cute cat spirit perched on your lap the next.]

[The Nekomata will be drawn towards members of Anzen more than anyone else per their target lock curse, but they are excited to shower literally anyone in a bit of cute kitty affection, regardless of their homeroom]

[Please let me know if your character is being violent and/or aggressive towards the Nekomata. Otherwise, enjoy some compulsive physical bonding with a cute ghostly flair!]

[ she was thinking "to leave the floor they're infesting", but bottlenecking, yes, that would have been the wise call! ]

Right up ahead. . .!

[and indeed, the stairwell swiftly approaches. Puck gives the mysterious stranger's hand a squeeze before practically yanking her down the first few steps. DON'T TRIP!!]

[the cats all attempt to bowl down the stairs at once, because in the end they are not very smart creatures. a few manages to trickle down after the fleeing duo, but most of them get stuck at the very top, bottlenecking together just as planned]

[ he will find her hand quite warm, slightly calloused, and clawed. these claws dig into the back of his hand momentarily as they clatter down the stairs and she almost winds herself on the stair rail.

this feels horrific. doesn't it feel horrific?! why does this get her adrenaline up just as much as the creature at the window?

she keeps on going even after they've left the nekomata behind—they're ghosts, after all. they could simply follow them, irreverent of the material plane. ]

[no time to think about how weird those claws feel pressed against his knuckles!! too busy escaping!!]

[he hits the bottom of the stairs at full speed, continuing his mad dash down the hallway ahead of them. a few stray Nekomata are still hot on their heels, but at least most of the mewling mass has been thoroughly lost]

W-- which classroom? Pick one! We'll shut the door!

[they're ghosts they can probably just PHASE THROUGH THE DOOR]

They are spirits! [ they're just going to come through?! HELP HER. even she is beginning to run out of breath. ] That one!

[ it does not even matter to her. ]

Here we go. . .!

[and without any further warning, he yanks her into the classroom, and loudly slams the door shut behind them. with back pressed against said door, he slumps, shoulders raised and chest heaving with exertion]

Hell. . .

[ good luck with the spirits about to enter your corporeal body, she's moving over to the windows to try to slide them open. with the back of her wrist, she pushes her hair from her face. sticky... ]

Imagine! To flee hags on day one and be reduced so soon to fleeing from cats.

They're kind of cute, but not when they're bearing down on you like a flock of-- ACK!!

[and. of course]

[one of the Nekomata phases quite easily through the door. . . and poor Puck's chest. he lets out a squawk of surprise, before jerking away from the door and stumbling into the center of the classroom, one hand pressed against his chest]

THAT'S NOT FAIR NO ONE SAID THEY COULD DO THAT!!!

What are you thinking spirits do?!

[ she's at his elbow, despite the lightning bolt of discomfort, to tug him away ]

[and tugged away he is!! a few more Nekomata slide through the closed classroom door, perching themselves on top of desks and chairs like they own the place. typical cat behavior]

. . . at least it's only a couple this time. . .

[and not a HUGE HORDE]

[ she doesn't want there to be any!!

Is that our last resort? Climbing out of the window. . . ?

Now that we aren't being pursued by a giant horde, I don't think it's that serious anymore.

[a small huff as he approaches, reaching out to plant both palms flat against the glass. he tries to push the window open, but alas. it does not budge]

[ mumbles something uncomfortable that might be "don't like..."
the window doesn't move. she puts her attention to that. ]

You are pushing wrong direction.

No! [ and she is, in fact, keeping her face somewhat in profile of the nekomata which phased through the door (and him). the way you might keep a side-gaze on a passing bear. ] I do not like them.

[side-eyeing her as he continues to fiddle with the window to no avail. it just doesn't seem to open, from the inside or the outside]

They're kind of spooky, but. . . a little cute, too? The only thing I don't like about them is their enthusiasm.




As far as ghosts go, the thing beyond the window was way worse.
