[boy, has it been a busy week and some change! the fundraising activities seems to have excited more than just the mortal student body. if you've been paying attention to the table adorned with spider lilies throughout the event, you would have noticed that some of the school haunts have been dropping pieces of ghostly yen into the jars scattered on top of it. each jar is now overflowing with glowing golden coins. they're intangible, unfortunately-- no one is going to strike it rich while stuck in this school-- but! they're pretty to look at!]

[and eventually, on October 5, the voice that started the whole affair speaks to you again]

Ah, quite wonderful! This has been such a rousing success. Thank you, my dear students, for working so hard to enrich your educational lives within these hallowed walls!

And a special congratulations to the members of the Outdoors Club, the Occult Investigations Club and the Food Tasting Club. Your efforts specifically have born fruit.

I did! It was really a lot~ a lot~ of fun. I liked the classes people put on. And the games!

I was wary to start. But it wasn't so constraining.

Eowyn-guniang is a sharp student. You must have learned a lot.

It was good, there was something for everyone.

And it was all stuff that was new to me. Like, I’ve been moping because I can’t work on my studies, but I should spend some time learning other stuff too. Like the sword! And Miskatonic says he’ll teach me Mandarin.

Ghosts aren't at all the same, hm. Have you learned anything you'd like to keep up? Even when back in a place with more bones?

Um, I could keep knitting now that I know how to do that. And knowing another language will still be useful if I ever want to work abroad... I don't know where I would go for, like, sword lessons though.

Is swordsmanship uncommon where you're from?

Yeah, except for like, sports fencers and HEMA reenactors. I think there’s some mages and martial arts that use swords still but they’re like… dull. It’s more about the forms.

I suppose longer-distance techniques must have gained traction...?

[ opening the door to the dorm building for her ]

Yeah like, um, guns. And there was a huuuuuuuge pacifism movement for like… decades. Battle mages aren’t really a thing anymore either.

Is it a peaceful place, your home?

It’s pretty peaceful. Like, there’s some crime, nowhere’s perfect, but nobody honestly needs a weapon.

No ghosts or monsters?

Not ghosts like we have here. Not in a crazy high concentration like this.

We do have monsters, but you kind of have to be out in the middle of nowhere for those to be a problem. It's kind of why I'm a necromancer— we drove a lot of the big and cool stuff extinct.

heading to the door of his own room. he keeps it very tidy. there is a fan wip drying on his desk which he has been slowly working on still, but everything else is put away in the closet out of sight, even the pillow from the bed. nothing even falls out when he opens the closet to fetch the short sword, sheathed in a scabbard also found from the shed. he closes the closet door and offers it out to her with both hands ]

she stops just inside the door like a good girl, not going to be nosy or anything! even if everything is tidied away. her attention's all on the sword anyways, almost bouncing as she waits. she holds still when he brings it over though, taking it with both hands like how he offered it.]

In the main area, not the hallway. Keep it to more open spaces until you have more control. Go ahead.

[bopping back to the living room to draw her NEW SWORD. weapons are scary, but a present is a present! and specialist tools of all kinds are fun and cool!]

[ her new sword is thoroughly de-rusted, oiled, sharpened, and the hilt has even been stripped of the old, ragged, dirty grip and re-wrapped with new cloth. follows her out, watching. gentle-voiced ]
