I've never had to really think about it that way. In the City, Fixers are just a known term.
What we're "fixing" is whatever the person or company hiring you wants, I suppose. Some Fixers specialize specialize in one thing, while others are more generalists. Pretty much anything goes so long as the Fixer's willing: killing, protection, taking care of tasks that are too dangerous for a civilian, that kind of thing. The company I work for now specializes in suppressing Abnormalities and Distortions.
[ She pauses, then realizes there's an obvious follow up question here. She beats him to the punch and answers before he can ask. ]
Abnormalities and Distortions are complicated. Let's just say they originate from people and are similar to monsters.

"Abnormalities and Distortions." She predicts his question about it, though it just spawns more.]
Originates from people? That nearly sounds like it is some manner of disease.

Abnormalities, I can't say. My company suppresses them, and we keep logs on them, but the technology that created them is way above my pay grade. [ Assuming it wasn't destroyed when Lobotomy Corporation fell. She pointedly keeps that detail to herself to avoid him asking about them. ] I just know they came from humans, somehow.
For Distortions, I guess you could compare it to a disease. Someone is in a vulnerable state of mind, hears a voice and gives into it, and then they turn into some sort of monstrous form of their inner self.
A coworker of mine went through it. We had to kick his ass to get him back to himself. He says it sucked.?

It "sucked." [help] I can't imagine anything like that is very pleasant.
[And overall, that was a lot to unpack. Everyone here comes from such baffling circumstances, such fantastical roles. He wonders if that has anything to do with why they're here.]
And rather like throwing open the closet door to shine a light upon all the skeletons within. A monstrous form of their inner self? Really?

That about sums it up. My coworker turned into a wild beast because he felt less than human.
[ Sorry not sorry for spilling your dirty laundry, Healthcliff. ]
