By the way... I've been finding out from the others that all the other classes are afflicted with some kind of curse. Apparently, the journals are supposed to hint at what it is, but... honestly, I can't make out what ours supposed to mean.

Has anyone been feeling different lately?

I don't know. I don't think so? It's been confusing... Everyone else has been figuring theirs out pretty easily.

I don't know. Truthfully, I've been frustrated and prone to smaller outbursts, but that's... Normal. [kind of ashamed of that, but she's been under a lot of pressure.]

But recently, I haven't noticed anything out of the norm outside of being affected by our external environment.

It's been really stressful for everyone, so I can't blame anyone for feeling frustrated. But that's... not really something a curse would do.

[ Given the situation, she means. All that to say, she doesn't have a clue either, if they really do have some kind of "curse." She's felt upset and drained, but who wouldn't in a place like this? ]

Maybe if we do have one, it just hasn't started taking effect...?

Huh… Good question, very good question. [She clears her throat.] I’ve been seeing just about everything that isn’t there, but I chalked it up to just being more of a wacko than normal.

[Raven doesn’t sound particularly bothered by either the haunting of the spiderwebs and cracked dolls or by calling herself crazy. It actually almost sounds like a badge she wears on her lapel, somehow.]

So what if I’m a little nuts? I didn’t show up uninvited and try to steal a book from a bunch of kids or anything.

... Dunno if seeing things is even part of a specific curse, I was just fine for like five minutes after getting here.

[Bitter like coffee brewed with all the grounds in the world. Maybe even the school grounds. In contrast to Raven he's been irritable and skittish this past week, apart from that time with the nekomata pile. But let's not talk about that being its own kind of mess, okay? Okay.]

There's less of 'em now. But who knows, maybe it just got overwritten by something worse.

[He is not cringe enough to say blursed but he definitely thought it at some point in that train of thought. Anyway. He doesn't look happy about it but he doesn't usually look happy about anything -- he's definitely focused, though.]

I couldn't even begin to tell what's different considering everything's different. We sure this Yakuyoke whoever isn't just messing with us? They sound annoying.

I don't know... Honestly, I wouldn't have thought anything of it if I hadn't spoke to others. But wouldn't it be weird if we were the only ones without one?

[ Unrelated to curse talk, Koharu can also be found in the kitchen at some point, setting down a plate of Just Okay cornbread from the cafeteria, and a few fruit cups of average quality, on the counter. If ya just wanna chat or whatever. ]

[ It's been a few days now since Nei disappeared for the better part of an afternoon, exploring the woods with a few other intrepid schoolmates. She made little fanfare around her return that evening - almost uncharacteristically so - opting instead to shut herself in her room.

Hauntings from the cat ghosts notwithstanding, she's busied herself with patrols around the school and - wherever she can find the space to do so - practicing her swordsmanship. A lot.

Some afternoons, though, she returns from lunch and when she thinks there's no one around, she sits on the loveseat in the common area, draws her knees up to her chest, and just sort of... mopes? ]

[Yuma wanders the school often around mealtimes, preferring to be on the move as opposed to standing still. One of his ventures leads him to the space Nei has taken up for training, and it's clear to him what she's doing that he stops on his way past.]

Ah, there you are. Do you suppose I could join you?

[ Nei might think there's no one around, but Mizi is something of a homebody, ever since they got here. The kitty ghosts had been a fun reprieve, indulged in lightly, but she's not exactly... energetic or cheerful. The general vibe she tends to give off is very guarded and tense, with only brief moments poking through that shield.

It's possible Nei thought she wasn't in her room since it's been so quiet, but the fact is — she's home. And opening the door right to Nei sitting with her knees up to her chest, looking rather down. ]

...What's wrong? Did something happen?

[ It's less direct concern for Nei... and more vigilance that prompts her to ask. Not that she doesn't care; it's just, alarm is her kneejerk reaction, in case there's another incident happening at the school. ]

[ She startles when a door opens— but the surprise subsides, when she realizes it's Mizi. She really doesn't seem to come out of their dorms a lot, does she...?

Nei does her level best to wipe the rueful expression off her face, to little effect. ]

Huh? No, it's nothing!

Good news for Rin: It isn't a person who lives in the dorm room approaching. It's the gentle click-clicking of the inky black talons on a large, black bird, shuffling its way over to where she's pouting on the loveseat and fluttering up to perch on the arm. Instead of crowing, it speaks, its head tilted to one side in curiosity.]

Why the long face?

[ For the most part, Mizi stays holed up in the Yakuyoke dorm, not venturing about the school very often except for meals. More and more, she finds herself feeling awkward while talking to the other people here — for lack of a better word, alienated. Her own silence on the world she came from is a contributor to it, but she can think of few things she wants less than to spill it only to get pity in return. She's not even the one to feel sorry for, in her opinion.

In the Yakuyoke dorm, she's a little more talkative, and a little more willing to show her ignorance of various matters. Case in point, whenever there's the opportunity to raise a question, she does: ]

...What do you think we can do around here to work out?

[ Outside/around the dorms, you may find her doing some RUNNING TRAINING!!! By doing laps around this floor of the school. Her long hair tied up into a ponytail (don't worry about my icons and hair length), and weirdly wearing her long sleeve track jacket despite running. Maybe she runs into you, or maybe you have to get out of her way as she goes past? Or maybe you're worried she's running from something? Either way, she's looking quite serious while she runs, face flushed with exertion. While she goes along past, with or without collision: ]

[Suzuha steps out of the dorms, greeted by the sound of the staccato rhythm of running footsteps, and immediately tenses; when she catches sight of the runner with such an intense look on her face, her guard is fully up.

Unthinkingly, she falls into a run behind her when she passes on by because surely something is going on here, and like hell Suzuha is going to let something dangerous catch her unawares. With a glance over her shoulder in the direction Mizi had emerged from—]

What are we running from?

[ Considering where they are, the approach of someone obviously running in the school would suggest that there must be something to run from. Though once she's close enough — another from Yakuyoke? — for Aventurine to tell that's not the case, he exhales out a breath he didn't realize he was holding. Okay. Good.

...But what is she running for? ]

Oh, where's the fire? Or are you practicing to outrun your classmates, Miss?

[ Said as a "joke" as she goes by, to see if she'll stop. ]

Or perhaps new week, new Bazi. Maybe literally. He can be found early one morning either squinting at a pile of used bandages or wadding them up and tossing them with a decisive motion. If it looks like an inordinately satisfied motion that's probably just your imagination.

He does look a touch uncertain about it, so he probably ends up in a dumb staring contest with the trash can, too.]
