[ this morning, two Kin'uns are at the bulletin board, adding a new entry, and then simply loitering nearby.

Ms Fairplay, notably, has her arm in a sling. Mister Adair... fares better, with a few scratches upon his hands and face. both of them look... pecked. ]

There. [ says Ms Fairplay, of her clumsy signage. ]

[ Ms Fairplay? more like Ms Fussing With Her Sling. it's a painful business, but she does so regardless, trying to adjust how it hangs against the side of her neck, and how it does or doesn't catch her hair up in the knot. ]

Half this school body will be invalid before long.

[Here comes Ena--with a pen in hand, to adjust Minato's missing person poster--just in time to see that added to the bulletin board.

She stares at it.]

... Seriously?

[ Adults loitering... now that's a sight.

One that inspires Mark to check the bulletin board! Hey look, there's something new. Rooftop access... Do not attempt to climb...

His brow furrows, looking back and forth between the large letters and the states of loitering adults, particularly one Ms. Fairplay.

... ]

Do you want some help next time?

[ just assuming there will be a next time ]

[ As she reads the new note: ]

Interesting. Sounds like learning more ought to be at the top of our agenda.

[ Her eyes slide off to the side and land on the injured pair. ]

A valuable lesson, but not one that came without a price, I see.

[Holmes only provides the addition to the bulletin board a cursory glance before turning his attention to her fussing.]

...Do not keep moving it. If your hair bothers you, we could keep it in a braid until your shoulder heals.

[A long pause.

She reads the notice again.

You know Hiro-kun can fly, right?

Yeah, asking the teen who can fly might have been the smartest option, and yet.]

It was my idea, and one that Ms Fairplay had even considered beforehand. Were there consequences to our actions, they should've befallen only us. ...For what it is worth, I can handle a few sparrows pecking at me.

[Though he wonders if that would be enough to keep someone like Mark from flying up to the roof? Knowing this place, it might be.]

I will debate if there should be a next time. We caught only a glimpse of what awaited us up there, and perhaps for now, the birds' warnings should be heeded.

[Closing his eyes.]

Yes. But I am not entangling yet another member of Shiawase into danger so soon. And it was a wise decision, ultimately.

[BECAUSE THEY GOT PECK'D]

Besides, who is to say that flight might help against a barrage of angry ghost sparrows? Mr Hiro could be sent spiralling down just as easily as we were.

... I mean, he'd probably be better off than you guys, climbing up there.

[She shrugs a little, shaking her head.]

But then you'd just be running off to do something else dangerous, probably.

[He huffs from where he stands nearby.]

Information rarely does, in this case. At least we are able to ascertain that whatever awaits us up there—accompanied by some strange, bright flame—is unlikely to be... friendly.

[Probably.]

It's over and done with now, at least. The injuries could have been worse.

[May or may not feel bad that Ms Fairplay got hurt worse than he did; gosh getting injured on these mini-investigations he tries to lead does happen a lot.]

We did learn a thing or two, however. Well, one thing, outside of the birds.

[ Raises an eyebrow at the mention of a flame. ]

Strange in what way? Can you describe it?

I wish I could tell you more, Ms Foxglove, but we only caught a glimpse as we fell, and it is not visible from the ground.

It was... a bright and golden. Flickering. Whether it was a part of something or someone, or merely just a flame, I could not say.

... So why was climbin' a great idea?

[She reads the note again... and decides it's much easier to just parse it out from the source.]

[ smh they can't leave mom and dad unattended for FIVE MINUTES ]

[ They should have taken him to be irresponsible, please!!! ]

[The look on her face and the tone of her voice makes it clear that in this one moment, the moment where she thinks the two of them got into kind of brawl, either with someone else or with each other and that left Severine with some kind of arm injury, is far and away the most she's ever respected either of them.]

A golden flame...

[ Closes her eyes for a moment. ]

That's likely a telling detail, though it's still too early to determine exactly what it says. If we could just find a safer way to get a glimpse of what's up there...

[ looks at his seniors. then at the bulletin. and back to the seniors.

If access to the rooftop was impossible from the inside, why not test if the outside was viable, instead?

[He waggles a hand dismissively as she comes over.]

I am fine. …It is Ms Fairplay who’s taken the brunt of the damage.

The idea was mine and Ms Fairplay’s. We were willing to live with the consequences of our own actions because of it.

[Time to shatter that newfound respect-]
