Are you asking about everything that happened since we got here? That's a pretty long story, though I don't mind telling it.

Well... I won't speak a lie; I do want to know everything, but I understand it would take a great deal of your time. Perhaps we could start with the events of the day you arrived?

You woke up in the detention room, right? With the warning about sharing names written on the blackboard?

That's right. I had found my mind wandering briefly, only to come to as you described.

We woke up there, too. Only we were locked inside and asked by some. . . creepy. . . thing to give out our names.

Did anyone agree to do it?

No. My class tried to give out aliases instead of names, but the. . . thing. . . saw right through us.

[a grump]

We pissed it off pretty good. It wound up crashing right through the window to get to us. We tried to escape the room by finding the key, but wound up running out of time.

What happened then?

Honestly, I thought we were goners. . . to this day, I'm kind of surprised we survived.

[don't get him wrong, he is grateful, but. . . that sure was an Experience (TM)]

It wrapped us all up in some really sharp thread-- like a spider's cocoon, almost?-- and then we all passed out.

We woke up sprawled out on the floor of the gym.

Ah, were you intended to be a meal, then?

Well, I sure hope not.

That is what spiders do to their food before they feast upon them.

Maybe it wasn't a spider. . .!

I'm unaware of any other creature that utilizes cocoons, except for, perhaps, a butterfly.

[ carnivore butterflies don't sound great either... ]
