I admit my visit is a belated one. [Everything happens so much.] I've finally come to see the doll you mentioned — the one presented to you by that nasty auditorium spirit.

[there's nothing out of the ordinary in here (apart from their new member), and she opens the door once she gets there, entering in.

the marionette with her likeness has been placed at the end of the bed; there's a cooperative smile painted onto the doll's face, but there's nothing too unusual about it apart from that.]

[New member? New brain to pick? Maybe he'll do so later...

For now, into her room he goes. He approaches the marionette.]

Where else would you recommend?

Perhaps less close to where you sleep?

I want it close enough that I can easily tell if it's moved somehow.

Go ahead. I don't think it's dangerous - it's been nearly a month, and it hasn't done anything.

It's not the worst thing here by far, but I'll admit that I'm not a fan of it, either.

I'd just destroy it if that weren't unwise.

You believe there could be side effects from doing so?

It's possible. Whatever entity is in that room certainly didn't seem pleasant, so I'd rather not risk it.

Still, I cannot help but wonder: why marionettes? [Turns it over in his hands again.] It is thematic to the auditorium, yes, but that cannot possibly be the only reason.

[thinking about it for a moment]

It did imply that it wanted to "play", so I suppose dolls make a certain amount of sense in that regard, too.

Do you suppose the spirit in the auditorium is one of the... "greater" spirits of the school? That is, the more worrisome ones, seen in dreams. [Like the train spirit that Anzen was so lucky to run into.]

It's possible. It didn't hurt us while we were in there, though... Though I suppose that could just mean it couldn't, instead of not wanting to.

Oh, no doubt it wants to. It is all a matter of wondering what is stopping them from acting immediately to do so.

There was the theory about the charms we received upon coming here helping with that, wasn't there?

[A beat.] Yes. And so, you suggest that... these baleful spirits bide their time until they've the strength to circumvent the protective nature of our charms somehow?

At the least, I imagine that's what some of them would like to do if given the chance.

It is just an assumption, yes, but I imagine you are correct. Otherwise, why are we not always under assault?

[He holds up the doll.]

Do you plan on keeping this indefinitely?

[nodding]

Yes, I do. I think that's a better option than discarding or destroying it, for now.
